Well I have a Samsung Tocco mobile which has an unlimited 3g internet browsing package on it (been told I can get 1mb+ connection speeds when the little E appears on it). I also have a laptop with wifi. Am off to cornwall for a week but will not have wifi at the place I am staying. My question is whether I can use the laptop to use the mobiles internet connection?

Any help appreciated, thank you.

Have been looking at the below which gives me an idea on how to do it by way of bluetooth.  How do I know if I am going to get charged for this.  Also, how do I find the other info to make the connection.  My phone has all network settings already filled in, username is o2wap, but password is asteriskd out, also no dial up number.

Although the thing that annoys me is that I have an unlimited bolt on for web browsing, although fair usage policy applies of 200MB!!!  Which I think is rubbish, to get 3GB download a month you have to upgrade to a webmax package which will cost £25 a month.  I am not expecting to download films, but I would like to freely browse the internet and not be restricted to 200mb.

Serious

Companies still think you should pay through the nose for access to the internet on the move, mainly because they ripped themselves off by paying far too much for the 3G licences and want to get the money back. This is one of the main reasons that wi-max hasnt taken off in the UK, it represents an alternative and much cheaper option, even if it will probably never meet up with the original hype.

knighty

I used my mobile as a modem foe a while when i changed isps and it tood a week (blergh)

worked pretty well.... didnt use it that much, but only spent about a tenner in a week at £1/mb :-)

.... and that includes em using the mobile to download the t-mobile software (4meg) to transfere it onto the pc to be able to use it
