Basically I enjoy the odd blast at Counterstrike Source. I dont play for long enough to bother with a proper server so I just Create Server from the main menu and add a few bots.

Id like to customise it slightly, adding custom sounds, Headshot for example. Also Id like to edit the amount of starting money both sides get (doing it via the create server options doesnt seem to have an effect). All the files Ive edited seem to be overwritten when CS:S starts  :cry:

All I want is a few of the nifty addons that the public servers have, but my goggling is lacking regarding this, as Im not sure if they are considered mods or hacks or addons.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Ive only ever played with dedicated servers, Ive never tried to run a local server w/ add-ons.

Have you considered throwing linux on some old hardware, installing steam and having a dedicated box ? Its pretty straight forward and there are loads of guides on the web.

I dont play for long enough to warrant the effort, maybe 2 or 3 hours per week.
