if you arent too bothered about the brand, the HP 2407w is awesome, and its glossy, and th epicture quality is just as good as the dell.  Im betting they are using the same panels actually.

I dont think the HPs use the same panels as Dell.  I may be wrong but I think its Apple and Dell sharing the panels only.

Dell and Apple both use Samsung panels, I dont know who HP use. Who are they in bed with these days?

You might want to be aware that the 2407WFP-HC has had some black ghosting issues that cant be fixed. I was keen on getting one until I found out about this, the previous revision (2407WFP) doesnt have these issues but doesnt have the 92% colour gamut. The other Dell seems to be the better of the two in this respect, but falls short everywhere else because its a budget TN panel.

Might be worth you reading this too, there are probably more threads as well:

Also worth considering is the BenQ FP241W and FP241WZ, this and the Dells are being regarded as a different league to the HPs in most circles. Cant say Ive seen them for myself though.

sat next to each other the difference wasnt noticable.  I was looking at a HP2207h and a Dell 2208WFP, and they looked about the same for image quality.  I would go so far as to say the HP looked slightly better, but that may partially be the fact I personally think that the HPs outer casing looks much better than the Dell.

edit :: It also convinced me to put a HP2207, or 2408 on my shopping list. The 2207 is most likely though as i can pick them up for under £200 at staples last i looked.
