Any ideas on the best/cheapest way to do this?

I have about 30GB of important documents, photos etc etc (no pron), currently this backs up between my laptop and HTPC automatically.

But I have been thinking if my house caught fire or some mega virus came along and wiped my network, or something like that, then I would lose the lot!

I have a lot of photos and financial documents and stuff that needs to be securely stored off site.

My preferred option would be to have a store over the internet, i.e. at my parents as they have a 24/7 server, but Im on Virgin Cable 10Mbit and the upload speed is quite slow (384k) so would need to do something that would be able to do a comparative upload? and over a secure connection, could possibly FTP? Any ideas of any good apps for this?

I also have a HD which is encrypted using TrueCrypt which I backup to and store at work, but obviously doesnt get updated very often, so would really like something automated every night while Im asleep and the internet isnt being used.

Any other suggestions are welcome?

Its totally possible; some of our clients use remote backup services which run at £x/m depending on the GB. They use FTP iirc to transfer data. Once the intial copy is done it just does new files and updated files so its low bandwidth.

Just having a look at apps now, Cobian backup looks like it should do the trick, might give it a go but the first upload is going to be mega slow! Might need to pop by my parents and drop a bigger HD in to the server (They live 200 miles away )

Any other suggestions recommended before I set this up properly.

Could do... Or could package one up here and get them to plug it in...

Will probably just wait until I go and visit them again and drop in an 120GB IDE I have around here somewhere, have the current external HD which I keep offsite for the moment anyway, might try some smaller backups for the moment that wont jam it up, just to see what the speed is like.
