Title: Does Ubuntu Server Edition have X installed ?

and if not, how easy is it to install it ? Or am I better off getting the desktop edition and manually installing LAMP ?

And more to the point while will neither of the installers work on my PC ? :s

Ive got a Pent D 3ghz, 1GB RAM, 80GB HDD, Intel mobo w/ onboard ATI gfx.

The installer gets as far as "running install scripts" and then I get a black screen w/ a flashing white cursor in the top left...

no, easy as pie. check the forums. its along the lines of one line of command line.

apt-get install x-windowing-system gdm or something

better off getting desktop and manually installing lamp. there will be lamp .debs on apt-get I would have thought so its a piece of pee. :)

As for installers... no idea.

cheers meta, I opted for the desktop + LAMP as I guessed that would be a more straight forward install...

...how wrong was I :o

I cannot get the installer past the initial splash screen (after the main install selection screen). Im starting to think (from reading) that its because I am trying to install to a SATA hdd :/
