I remember reading a while  back that someone was going to release a hard drive that was a normal optical drive but with the addition of a 4-12Gb of solid state memory for loading windows.

Havent heard much since then though has anyone seen anything?

Samsung and Seagate announced their hybrid drives...I think the Samsung was called Flash-ON or something. I was only useful with Vista IIRC as the OS needs to be tuned to work with it correctly.

I suspect the HDD makers are holding off until M$ fix Vista (or put it down and bring out something half decent)

Leon

Havent heard anything about these but they sound interesting :)

Hmmm cant be arsed with Vista on my laptop....

Think Ill just opt for one of the 120Gb Samsungs which Tek has for a frugal 37 quid :)
