Title: DVB-S on PC
Post by: Tekheads Support on June 10, 2008, 15:50:03 PM
I live in block of apartments that are all sky ready, we have satellite ports in each room just need to hook up a sky box and off you go.

What would happen if i install http://www.comprousa.com/en/product/s350/s350.html in my pc ?  Presume it will pick up the free-to-air satellite channels? would it also get the new bbc hd channels etc?

reading that, it doesnt support Mpeg 4, so you wouldnt be able to get HD Channels.

best place to buy http://www.dvbshop.net/

then google CCAM

it does say "Supports SDTV and 1080i HDTV (where available)" in the description so do you think that is an output rather than input ?

nothing to do with it.. early HDTV was broadcasted in MPEG2, however, this took up a lot of bandwidth - so now they use MPEG4 (AVC/H.264)
Near enough everywhere now broadcasts HDTV as MPEG 4 - that card doesnt support MPEG 4 reading it.

The only HD Channel that still broadcasts in Mpeg2 AFAIK is Euro1080 & they are only doing that until the end of next year
