Just thought i would mention how ridiculous the price of Rock Band is going to be in europe compared to the states.
QuoteWhen Rock Band was released in the US, it cost $169, and came with the game, guitar, microphone and drums. Not a bad deal.
But in Europe, on May 23? Good heavens. The game wont come in a single bundle. Instead, theres two products available at lauch. One is called the "Instrument Edition", which costs £130/€170. It comes with a guitar, drums, and mic. Thats it. No game. No, if you want the game as well, itll cost you another £50/€70. That brings the cost of the game and three instruments to £180/€240. Or, USD$378

now i am used to stupid pricing, but over double the price?
EA and MTV are just assuming that since we have no choice we have to buy it. I for one was interested in the game, nice way to involve a few friends, but at that price they can go jump.
I think the comments on that article sum it all up nicely, this is disgusting really. I for one would be more than happy sticking with GH and one/two guitars, no one minds waiting a turn just to show you how its done anyway.
For these European prices you might as well buy real instruments!
I will let you know the oz NZ pricing when I know
Ive been reading about this all over the internet today.
This game was on my list to pre-order for day of release but as soon as I heard the pricing, I was shocked. They are trying to charge over double what the charge for it in the US and some guy from Harmonix expects us to believe that £85 (US price) + 17.5% (VAT) = £180 (UK price). I think most people were expecting a markup of around 50%, maybe £125, but for it to be around 110% is rediculous.
Another problem is that, unlike the US version, you have to buy the instruments seperately, so if there is a shortage on that set you could end up with a game that you cant fully enjoy.
Wont be getting it at that price!
Most people wont be even be able to justify spending that much just on a game.
I liked this :)
QuoteWell f**k you EA I wont be buying any of your games.

Yeah, that is good - In any other forum and this you should and get people to mail their feedback here -
http://www.harmonixmusic.com/contact.htmlTell them their pricing is sh*te and link what you could by for that price
Depressing thing is that it will still be sold out everywhere, people will still buy it.

Being serious I could get a cheap set of drums, an electric guitar + amp and a mic for £180.00. Ok all low quality but it is a piss take!!

We should form a really long list of items that are around the same price that has more worth a bit like that and including the ones mentioned already and everyone mail them the same thing
I think its also due to the fact that the pound is so strong so it makes it seem worse. Weve always paid the equivalent amount for stuff as the US...just in £s rather than $. The same goes for iPods, Jeans etc...
Well always pay more than the US....just depends how much more.
iPods not so much. For all the prices you have to ignore the 17.5% VAT we pay as sales tax in the US isnt included in the price you see as each state charges different amounts.
160Gb iPod Classic
US - $349 : £175
+17.5% VAT: £205
UK - £229 inc VAT, about 11% markup which is fairly good for CE between here and there.

With games we usually pay up to 50% more than the US. I dont think Ive seen one where we pay over 100% more.

Good luck on that, there is currently no plan to release it there according to EA.

Another thing that makes this pricing more annoying is that most people who have the game in the US have had to modify the drumkits as the pads tend to dent and crack and the pedals are notorious for snapping. So its most likely were gonna have to do the same mods, meaning spending more money on the game which, with its current stated price, is just rediculous.
