How has there not been a thread about this? (/waits for link).

Anyways, Ive played the tutorial and the first mission.

Pros :

1. Um, I could probably play it with one arm and a netbook.
2. It pains me to say it, but the game does feel very smooth.

Cons :

1. Awful graphics (everything up full @ 1680x1050) - it looks like what it is, a game designed for consoles.
2. Theyve destroyed the brilliant economic aspect of the game, now you have to have the resources before you can build or queue what you want to make.
3. Maybe Im being a little thick, but I cant seem to get additional engineers to help with construction.
4. The little in-game FMVs look like they were created by a designer from the early 90s.
5. Mass nodes have a big Ma on them, are gamers really thought of as idiots?
6. Its not SupCom FA2 dammit!

Only played for around half an hour, and Im dissapointed. Next time I play I will try to look at it as a stand-alone game, not part of a franchise. As it stands, it seems like a poor mans C&C clone.

TA died as it was too complicated. Seems SupCom has gone the same way. God forbid I want to be challenged by a game, other than the AI cheating.

I wasnt even going to look at it becuase SupCom just ground my computer to a hault and now Im only on an ION Netbook but if thats the case might be worth a look as a random strat game.

Shame they seem to of simplified it, I love complex strat games (been playing Sins of Solar Empire & Homeworld 2 Complex to death resently)

I used to love playing TAs skirmish map with the 4 big islands, amassing superior air power and taking over 3 of the 4 islands, before either building dozens of nukes and sending them in one go, or amassing an amphibious army surrounding the remaining island and having them emerge in one go

Dammit just making me want to play TA now.

The map with the 4 metal islands was always one of my faves

The map I liked wasnt the metal one...it was a grassy/jungle island one with a tiny island in the middle with a metal statue worth a lot of resources in the middle.

the other thing I liked to do was build great walls of dragons teeth across the map, the AI didnt know to destroy them I found so it let me turtle in peace pretty much!

Damn, I wanna play TA so much I might reinstall Supreme Commander 1, though Ive found its never filled the gap in my gaming heart that TA did The best bit of SC was the fact that 2 of the voice cast were in Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex!

And lets just ignore TA:Kingdoms ><

SupCom : Forged Alliance (stand-alone expansion) made the original SupCom look like a childs toy. Changes to the interface being one of the best features.

Ive got a few hours off on Sunday night, so I expect Ill have a bash at SupCom 2 again.
