seem to be getting some funny dots on my screen, it mostly happens on blue backgrounds (like tekforums) but it does it on some other colours too. the dots stay in the same place and spread when you scroll so i get lines then. ill try and get a screeny.

its a couple of day old geforce7600 that is standard.

DEViANCE

here a screeny

dont know if theyll show up or its just my screen.

DEViANCE

on my lappy now and can see the lines in that screeny, so that means it a problem with the memory side of the graphics card doesnt it?

filbert

Looks like a bad card, if its new send it back.

lac

usually a problem with the DAC it could also be the mem, usually most card now got 2 display port so try using the other 1 and reboot ur pc.

Maldonado

Try new drivers and a new gfx card if poss - if no joy youve got a dodgy card, send it back.

ive started the rma process with ebuyer, hopefully goes smoothly.

its a strange problem, just had a 4hour+ session of Civilisation 4 and it was doing some minor artifcting but didnt crash at all and ran smoothly.

Sounds like the old memory issue when the heatpads are crap or not on the chips properly causing overheating and faults, or just faulty plain and simple

DEViANCE

ebuyer picked it up on Tuesday, got the new one today.

top service

DEViANCE

just installed the new card, when i boot up i get 1 long beep and 3 short beebs (no vga detected)

it boots into windows ok as i hear the startup music and it shuts down ok when i press the front panel button too.

ive tried re-setting the bios and re-seating the card.

any ideas?

thanks
rob

Beaker

power socket plugged into the card OK?  Ive had faulty power outputs on PSUs before.  They work fine until you disturb them.

DEViANCE

the card doesnt have an extra power plug

DEViANCE

just carried it all down to the living room to have a closer/comfier look and it posted perfect first time. :o  wtf?

my office is freezing (8degrees atm) can that effect it?

knighty

maybe you joggled it about a bit moving it, so soemthing is connecting better / no longer shorting ?

DEViANCE

this is pissing me off now! its doing it every time now!

another faulty card?
