Hi all,

Ok moving to new house soon  (ish) and I thought Id use our cheap 21" for general TV watching then set a projector up for movies  / xbox etc..

Im a bit new to projectors - can people give me a guide on what to look out for?

best place to ask TBFH

Sam

I had one 3 years ago and it was superb. So I cant see any modern one being crap

I had a panny PAE500 or 700 or something, they were the best at the time.

Main thing is getting the right resolution and checking that its what it says it is. As with TVs many are sold as HD ready but are really 1024*768 which is nowhere near.

Genuine 1080p is expensive but the best.

As with everything else read the reviews before deciding.

You also have the choice of getting a proper screen or painting the wall white. All depends on if you are a penny pincher or not...

TBH I looked at buying one and then decided to go for a 47" 1080p LCD screen which is very nice - if you have the room  8)

Yeah Ive been toying with the idea of an LCD for awhile. My friend bought this the other day - its good for the money

Dont get an LCD, theyre a complete waste of money compared to projectors.

Ill echo sam - panny projectors are the tits.  I got a AE700 which at the time was giving £2k projectors a run for their money, and it was £950ish.  Its since been obsoleted, but Id definately check out the replacement model.
