So has anyone tryed out Frugalware. Im installing now, its pritty much Slackware with packages meaning it will kick Ubuntos arse to the ground in my opinion :)

Just setting it up on my downloading box now. Stick torrentflux on and see how spot on this distro is that a lot of Slackware users are moving over from :)

Any input on what people have read please :)

Meh, its all Linux in the end. You want to faff about some more on the command line, go ahead. Any distro can be cleaned and fluffed to perfection. The distro wars are over. :P

Ahh maybe maybe :p

I find once Ubunto develops a problem you have to spend more time at command line then in even Gentoo hah :p Now Gentoo is an arse of a distro :p

The net install for Frugalware is spot on constantly maxing my line out and at 700ish megs for all the packages you will actually want and KDE instead of Gnome its all good :)

You still living on Ubunto?

Yup. Desktop has Dapper, and lappie has Edgy on it. They work just fine. Mind, Id like a smaller standard install like you mention, but its no biggie to uninstall stuff. I always tweak services on any Linux I install, and it really makes it feel more nippy. sysv-rc-conf is teh shiznit. :D

Mind, Im tempted to switch back to Fedora, as I like the backgrounds better.

Havent had any issues of late with Ubuntu, other than setting up automatic wifi roaming on the lappie, and that was stupid easy.

My laptop hates nix.. Its simple into install and modify propes to use with CPU Throttleing normally but this laptop is being an arse and and a 1/2 :(

Mine benefitted from being a bog standard 4 y/o corporate whore Dell. :P The graphics driver is decidedly a bit dodgy for the mobile ati sh*te, so it get XP pro booted on most days. :P The wifi works much better under Ubuntu.  Its like Linksys and the stock XP software are having a death match over the wifi card.

General support for ATI based cards are dreadfull. My onboard system runs better than the 9200 in the box... The official ATi drivers are a joke as well the unofficial ones are a lot better :)

Nvidia for nix :) Should be a slogan :)

Well, the thing to do there is to either disable the Linksys software and let ZWC handle the wifi or disable ZWC and let the Linksys software handle the wifi.

Id suggest the former personally.

For the record, how would I do that? I"m a total XP tard. Then again, the Linksys software pops up error messages about not being installed properly.  Most likely the two fighters having it out?

BigSoy

Uninstall the dodgy linksys software, unplug the wireless card, whack it back in, then windows detects new hardware, point it to the appropriate *.inf driver file, and dont bother with the full .exe installing all the crap, and ZWC should just do its stuff on its own.
