Set up: Router, 3 pcs connected, sometimes more if friends are round.
Anyway, if two pcs try to connect to one CS server, it wont work, Im guessing because theyll have the same originating IP (ISP side, obv not LAN side).
Same for Nintendo DS, if two people try to play mario kart online, itll block one person out, again i reckon its IP issues.
Anyone know how to get round this? I know I can only possibly have one IP from the ISP, but is there anything i can do on the router/pcs?
i dont play online anymore and tbh never had more than one connection. Seems a bit sh*tty that you get blocked from having your connection limited to one.
Can you add another by going through a proxy?
The only way around it I have ever found allows for 2 PCs to connect to the same server.
This was a simple case of making one of the PCs the DMZ. That way there was no PAT involved for one of the connections and both PCs seemed to work.
I have never come across that kinda problem, especially when i have had a few friends over for a lan and there can be about 10 of us connecting, also never had it when i was in a uni house with a few people sharing and playing the same game.
You sure the two copies of cs dont have the same licsense key?

CS wont stop you connecting based on IP. If it did wed never be able to play it when we were at uni ;)

Definately different logins used, wonder what it is then, atm my PC is set to DMZ, might try get hold of a different router, I dont hold this linksys one very highly.
suppose you could try windows ICS and set the other pcs to go through it,
should help to see if it really is the NAT on the router causing grief as the router would only see one IP that way with all the traffic going through the pc.
