Im also voting it being not blizzard problem but one of the drivers you are running.

Im nowhaving a problem with WoW...every time I go into a city, I get a BSOD lockup and have had to turn the auto restart back on, manual rebooting was getting annoying. Ive tried updating all of my drivers, nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

Sweenster

what does the bluescreen report as failing?

usually states a certain dll, essentially a driver.

I have a random nvidia driver problem that can kick in at any time and causes a restart, yet to find the problem, probably having so much going on over 2 screens.

dlls beginning nv are usually nvidia drivers

You keep forgetting to mention that your new to overclocking, and your system is overclocked. This is key information you should include  :P

As for a fix. Take your pc apart, rebuild it, fresh install of windows xp from your discs, which i hope you have, judging by what was said in my dvd thread :P, reinstall all the drivers, reinstall wow. Again check what the BSOD says, the specifics of it. If that fails im sure you can read the memory dump file

You might have misunderstood, me, it works perfectly until I go into a major city or try to log onto one of my characters in a major city.

The computer did exactly the same thing when I reset the bios settings, so next thing is to check the BSOD error message....I think it was a dll, but I know one good way to find out...

Its a driver issue. For some reason, when running something graphics- and system-intensive [as in trying to load the major cities in WoW], the motherboard rejects the VGA card and reboots. Hopefully Asus have got a fix for this, as Ive installed everything off the CD that came with it.

Beaker

when you installed the new card did you totally clean out the old drivers?  This is a common problem when installing a new GFX card.  Its even more of a problem if you have flipped from nVidia to ATi, or the other way round.  its annoying, but its well known.  Also, DEP can cause issues with ATi drivers Ive found in the past.

I didnt have drivers in the first place. I bought the mobo and the 4850 to build a new system.
Also, the BSOD reads DRIVER_IQRL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, along with some error codes. Anybody know what this means?

what is the code after that?  and have you got DEP turned on?

El Jacko

1: the code after it is 0x00000000D1, and 2: only for essential windows things [the XP default]

Edit: Increasing the paging file size to maximum seems to have solved the problem. Now I cant get the fps below 75...no matter how hard I try.
