I know Sara posted about it on the old forums, anybody else got an invite?

Easy enough to use, cept I was unable to change fonts.

looks a bit formulaic with little freedom to make your own pages

If I want to put up some photies and some yammerin about a trip, Id rather spend 10 minutes with Google pages than an hour in a text editor.

Plenty enough freedom for a page about your genital wart collection, There are a couple dozen color schemes and half a dozen layouts.

Its meant to be simple. ;)

Yep its horrendously restrictive. But thats good for people who havent a clue and want to dash out a quick website.

I did a blurb on it for ShinyShiny http://www.shinyshiny.tv/2006/02/easy_webdesign_.html

The thing itself: http://sarajw.googlepages.com/

"horrendously restrictive" is a bit excessive dont you think?

The layouts are far better than I would come up with in a pinch, and how much formatting do you really need for most things.

A header, "this is my essay" some cool colors, a sidebar, and a text body for the bulk.

Ive got a bit of a clue, but Im not fully proficient in html, and rely on mozilla-composer to rough stuff in when I do the rare page. This is much better. :P

Oh hell yeah, what it does it good! But for someone like me who codes all my stuff in notepad and wants to put text in very specific places it, I found Google Pages a bit irritating.

I like things like this to let you do everything in WYSIWYG format, but then let you chop and change the code as you see fit, like Blogger does. But Pages only gives you the HTML inside the specific div sections theyve already made, if that makes sense?

Seriously, its great if you dont care about the html - but I do, cos Im sad :p

Would be great if they would let you edit the html like in blogger, agreed, as Ive done that before. Might very well happen in the future.

It looks the Cats PJs(TM) to be honest - simple, no messing about methods for putting together a no nonsense page... my sister or g/f would love it...

If you want to spend 3 or 4 hours on the japanese honky tonk coding a page, go for it, but id rather spend that time doing things which i could document on there like riding my bike or getting out in the fresh air, itll give the nerds something to read and think about... ;)
