Oh its NTSC TATSUNOKO NISMO tastic alright with a side of PULSAR GTiR SPOON CALSONIC RAYS ALLOYS.

Thankfully though ps3s all have universal power supplies in, the games arent region locked (talk of them becoming so one day, but I think its horse shizeh) infact the only difference really is on the dashboard X is O and vice versa, hell when I got my white one from hong kong it even started up in english

All you need is one of those 8 plugs with a UK plug, and a HDMI cable, done.

But them Im a nob for stuff like this, I ordered one, it will be my third :whoops:

I sort of agree. What is with the buttons on the front? They look outdated and out of place. Also the PS looks more like the fat version than the slim..

I do however, love the colour.. Not entirely sure why!

Edit again.

Seems they couldnt be bothered to draw the insides of a MK1 Golf for this game.

That would be because outside of the small group of late teen to late twenties Englishmen still driving hatchbacks, most people dont give a toss about the Mk1 Golf.
Title: Re:GT5

The game feels more like a late release beta than anything else.  Doesnt feel polished enough.
Title: Re:GT5
Post by: neXus on November 25, 2010, 09:42:18 AM
It is not.
The high end stuff you have seen in videos etc and the effort to detail is only on SOME of the cars and tracks. The rest are just normal.

For the time and money that has been spent 3 Forza games have come out, learned from mistakes and what people want in a modern driving game and released these and made profit ^^

We were personally actually quite surprised by the raitings it got, we expected lower! We know the game doesnt show all the dev time weve put in to it, but were working on that.

We did have a near finished product when we released prolouge, we were looking at a period of about 8 months before release.

Then Sony demanded the entire game be 1080p, 60FPS. We had it coded at 720p, 30FPS.

Sadly no more space for the systems we developed, so theyre on the sideline. Theyll be released as DLC eventually, but Sony pushed for a release now (PS3 sales need a boost for Christmas).

We ARE working on feedback though, and things like this keep coming up (along with DRM on saves, crappy menu design etc) and they will be improved through DLC if everything goes according to plan.

As for Premium/Standard, Kaz wanted over 1000 fully modeled car, but as I said before Sony rushed the release so we had to import the low poly GT4 models and upscale them a bit.

It was ambitious, but it wouldve worked. We had just enough power to work with to get everything in (including 3D crowds/trees and all cars as premiums).

The Yaris will appear in the used car dealership.

The Vitz is a new car and a premium model, its a Yaris by another name.

Yes, there are more model specific races this time round. New events will be added via DLC, the first ones will be races with bhp limits (250, 350, 500).

-Standards upgraded to premiums (higher poly models, dash view, changeable rims etc).
-Brake tuning will be added
-New tracks are being worked on
-New races/championships will be released that are BHP limited, not manufacturer limited.
-There will be an as yet unnanounced update to online play (I cant say more than this).
-B Spec and replays will get fast forward buttons.
-Some more stuff I cant say yet

Its a common complaint, and its being worked on. Priority for audio just now is to give the user their own BGM on menus as well as in race, to equalize the volume of in-race user BGM and to give a more seemless transition of audio when you change screens.
Some new engine sounds are being worked on too.

Sorry nothing I can do there. We are in the process of setting up dedicated race series though (this is the next stage in online development) to allow users to run their own series, just like those in A-Spec. Some of these will have rewards for the best racers.

There will be some old favourites brought back from earlier in the series, but I cant say which yet - its a surprise!
We didnt want to just offer upscaled tracks so were redesigning them from scratch. They look fantastic so far!

Exiting the menus is awkward right now, I agree. Its planned to make the "O" button take you right out of a menu and not have to press "X" to confirm every time, but its not a high priority at the moment. Theres always the "My home" button for when youre in A-Spec/B-Spec.

-Load times cant be fixed, its due to the amount of data that has to be loaded from the disk, and we cant speed that up. If its REALLY slow, disconnect from PSN. Equally if you have a slow internet connection menus will lag, since weve programmed online integration in both since and multiplayer.

-Theres plans to release several new "Home Screens" and allow the user to choose the layout that suits them best. Not a priority though, we want to sort out the gameplay first.

-Jazz music, might not be everyones tastes but it was chosen at team meetings. As I said earlier, soon youll be able to replace the background BGM with user BGM so it wont be an issue.

-Delievered cars are being worked on as a priority. Chances are the fuction will stay but the cutscene will be skippable.

-As for loving your own music, itll be equalized in volume across all tracks soon, and youll be able to change tracks in game, so it should get even better!

The conformation pop-ups are there because of Sony. Apparently people get all pissy if we dont warn them theyre about to do something, so we dont really have a choice on all of them, but some will go. We did try though.

Everything will be released sequentially, bit by bit in different patches for those on slower internet connections (each patch will be no bigger than 150Mb).

As I said above, we had to import the AI system from GT4 with a few tweaks. We have a whole new system almost ready to go but Sonys requirements for 1080p/60FPS means we couldnt get it done on time. Itll be available in patch in due course.

DLC wont be announced until its up and online. This way if its delayed a bit we dont get people moaning again. We want it perfect, especially after the criticism the game has got.

Wait and see. New cars will be available via DLC *eventually*. Most likely these will cost.

We were pressured in to a release by Sony who really need to boost PS3 sales this Christmas. This title is a console seller, hence the rush.

All standard car sounds were imported from GT4 (with a bit of tweaking on some).
When they become premium cars the engine sounds will be updated too.
As for the engine sounds on premium cars, they were recorded specifically for GT5. If they dont sound good, get a new setup because in the test labs here they sound fantastic

NASCAR sounds were taken from the cars themselves. If they sound bad get a better speaker setup. As far as were aware theres no EQ issues with engine noises but were looking out for them in case they do crop up.

Cant change the rims on standards because theyre completely different models to the premiums. High poly wheels on a low poly car would look crap. When theyre upgraded to premium youll be able to change wheels.

Phototravel isnt available for standard cars because the low poly count means they look bad if Im honest. Jagged door frames, poor shadows, low quality textures.... we dont really want people taking pictures of those and spreading them round the net when were working on making all cars premium, would give a false impression.
Photo travel will be available to all cars when upgraded to premium.

3D was a Sony requirement, to show off their new Bravia TVs (there will be bundle deals with TV/PS3/GT5 soon). Because of that we had to up it to 60FPS and Sony want the 1080p, again to show off the new Bravia TVs.

Go Karts were planned from the start for a bit of fun, I quite like them personally. They may have more use later on, just wait.

8 months after prolouge we would have had a finished game (at a much higher quality than the current release) but Sony gave their demands so we had to agree, hence almost 3 years of working our asses of to try and get what they wanted.

If it doesnt itll be EQ or compression issues, and well certainly want to know about it. We check all the community boards daily so if its posted on there well see it. Like I said theyre all genuine recordings and no major issues reported so far.

GT3 was the last one really designed for users without a wheel in the high spec races. Wheels have become much more commonplace now, so it made sense to start catering development towards them.
GT5 is so much better with a wheel but only once we get the update out.

Like I said, wait and see what tracks are coming Who knows, there might be quite a nice collection of classics.

Itll be easier when everything is premium and you have the option of buying each car used or new (Lupo will be listed under the VW dealer).
The used car dealership will be getting a makeover with new "Sort By" options (Manufacturer/Price/Age/BHP etc). Itll still update just as often though, so itll be no easier to get a second hand Lupo, but youll be able to buy a new one (at a premium of course).

-Kaz likes the Skyline. Hes not going to budge on that. Ever. His choice.

We cant say because theyll get flooded with comments of people wanting to contact us.
Lets just say if its well known, we check it.
I can say we check the GT5 forum on the PS3 boards, but not and 3rd party ones (if its a big community, we watch it).

t was debated, but Kaz sees GT5 as his own baby, he wants to nurture it for a long time, so waiting out until GT6 would mean several years of waiting. Sony wanted 1080p NOW for the new Bravia series, so we had to give in.
GT6 isnt even being worked on just now, were probably looking at future gen consoles for it.

This is excellent news, but then Ive read all the reports since release date that they are going to be doing many updates to bring the quality inline with the stratospheric expectations everyone had. A lot of complaint has been riled up from X-Box/Forza fanboys, but it seems there are genuine complaints about it seeming unfinished, annoying menus and all the other bits covered there, even if it is already an amazing game. These updates will only serve to solidify the longevity and brilliance of GT5.

So far all Ive done is purchase a dealership Eunos Roadster in silver stone   and redeem all the chromeline cars, Ive only done 1 race and it was in the rain which is impressive.

Tonight Im going to get used to playing (definitely reassiging the accelerator/brake to R2/L2), do some licences and probably fanny about in Arcade mode trying out these lovely premium cars.

So far, Ive been blown away by the graphics, presentation, etc no doubt once I get into it more some of the niggles will present themselves but overall I can see me thoroughly enjoying this for many months to come.

Load times are fast for me too, is the 320Gb HDD drive faster than the others? PSN is signed in while playing too.

The seasonal stuff has insane xp and cr. rewards, but you need good cars first, i took a R32 GTR V-Spec II in and got annihilated, couldnt even catch up with position 11.

Ah it's pissing me off.

B-Spec bob just sits there crying if I put him in any car with RWD.  I've put him in a Micra Cup MM-R and he does great, until he decides he's not a race driver anymore and sit's in the gravel sobbing.  Normally on the last lap, with the finish in sight....previously being in 1st place.

I need either a classic Muscle Car or a Pickup, neither of which are appearing in the used car lot.

Honest opinions then, is this a game worth the frustration? Is online play bearable yet? Analogue sticks ok to play with?

GT5 is one of few games you can play whilst playing something else and watching a tv show ???

GT5 - Bspec mode
CIV 5 - on pc
Alan partridge - laptop

It's very good, but erm 'different' at times.

I must admit I found GT4 a little frustrating at points, which is why I am reluctant to pay full whack for GT5. From what I have heard FO:NV is pretty awesome and takes ages to complete. I really don't know which I would prefer...  :-\

B-Spec, from what I have heard would drive me insane! I seriously hated leaving GT4 on overnight only to find my driver had lost first position and landed 4th..

I could save the voucher and get Dead Space 2 on release... That game looks scarier than the 1st!

I'm off to look at reviews and youtube vids..

Title: 1.06
Post by: matt5cott on February 18, 2011, 12:58:58 PM
Adds remote racing.

Gran Turismo 5 has been updated to version 1.06 via a 300mb patch. Headline new features include remote racing, using the course maker in online races and performance points for online races.
Major Changes and New Features

Remote Racing
On the bottom left of the [GT Mode] - [Community] screen, [Remote Races] have been added.

You can combine the "My Driver" of you and your friends to start a fully automatic B-Spec race, to gain rewards and experience.

For details please see section 8-4 [Remote Races] in the [Manual] accessible from the top menu and also the new "Remote Race" page in the GT5 product in+I3formation section on gran-tursimo.com.

Remote Racing from a Web Browser
For [Remote Races], you can visit the official "gran-turismo.com" website using an internet web browser, and remotely operate your PS3 at home. You can start races, monitor its progress and check the results from the web site. This is a new playing style allowing you to play Gran Turismo anywhere!

Sign in from the [GT5 My Home] button on the upper right of the webpage to get started.

Using the Course Maker in Online Races
You can now select the "My Tracks" created in [Course Maker] for your online races (Open Lobby, My Lounge), or even race on tracks automatically generated from a selected theme on the spot. (Please note you'll only be able to use My Courses created after this update in this way.)

Introduction of Performance Points for Online Races
We've now introduced Performance Points (PP), a numerical index of a car's performance for online races. You can set PP restrictions in the regulations of online races (Open Lobby, My Lounge) to regulate the participating cars.

For details, see 6 -15 [Performance Points] in the [Manual] accessible from the top menu screen.

Increased Rewards and Experience Online
The amount of rewards and experience gained from online racing (Open Lobby and My Lounge) have been increased.

Expansion of Event Settings for Online Races
[Auto Race Start Cycle] and [Tyre/Fuel Depletion] have been added to the event settings of online races (Open Lobby, My Lounge).

Increased Penalties for Special Events
The penalties for improper driving such as driving off course and hitting walls have been increased for the [Special Events] in [GT Mode] - [GT Life].

Event Rewards and Experience Adjusted
The rewards and experience for [Licence] and [Special Events] of [GT Mode] - [GT Life] have been adjusted. Experience for A-Spec and B-Spec events have been increased, while rewards have been reduced back down to levels seen before the 1.05 update.

Car Loan in Events
In A-Spec and B-Spec events in [GT Mode] - [GT Life], as well as when participating in [Special Events], you can now rent cars that your Friends have set to share with friends.

For details see 6-16 [Borrowing and Lending Cars] in the [Manual] accessible from the top menu screen.

Settings
Individual gear adjustment, power limiters, and weight adjustment have been added to the settings. For details see [18. Settings Guide] in the [Manual] accessible from the top menu screen.

Multi Monitor
From [Options] - [Hardware] - [Multi Monitor], you can now set multi-monitor display settings using multiple PS3 systems.

You can now enjoy Gran Turismo 5 in an incredibly wide display environment combining multiple PS3 systems and TV's/monitors.

How's this compare to Forza 3 for the 360 then? Cause I've got that, but I was a big fan of Gran Turismo back when I had a PSX and PS2 and when Forza came out I found that it was better than the previous GT games.

I'd really like to try this out, but I don't have a PS3 and don't really fancy buying one just for one game. Maybe I'll try and find a mate whose got a PS3 and GT5 and give it a go cause I really love decent driving games seeing as they're pretty rare these days. I can't stand these arcade racers such as need for speed and PGR.

Yep I agree Forza just seems to be a little less anal, and progression is a bit quicker.

As you go through GT you win loads of pointless cars, in Forza you can win some good ones, Also the online auctions in Forza are quite good...

...However with GT releasing these updates, they could be making it in to something much better!

Question for you.. The gift car tickets you get for completing a full race series, i.e. beginner, etc..  - Is it only for a random car or can you pick a car at that level and get it for free? I have only managed to select it in the delivery screen to get a random car, thus I ended up with 2 Audi Pikes Peak Quattros. I wouldn't mind but I can't sell my spare one.. GRR! :panic:

Coming Oct 18th, some DLC you can buy, but the massive update itself is FREE.

If you have been keeping up with GT5, you know Polyphony Digital has been very diligent about releasing free updates to improve the game, especially the online racing mode. Ever since the launch, Kazunori Yamauchi and his team have been carefully studying posts on forums, reading comments on PlayStation.Blog posts and across Twitter, talking to fans at events, and more. The game has evolved a lot since last November, thanks in part to the dedicated GT fans voicing their opinions.

Now I'm here to share with you some very exciting news about the biggest FREE update yet, releasing in the next few weeks. It will add new features and even more functionality to your GT5 experience.

Polyphony learned that a lot of fans out there love driving using the game's interior view, and has given some serious thought to it. With this new update, all cars in the game will now have interior views. Although the level of visual details will vary based on what car you choose, you can now race from behind the wheel of any car in the game. In addition, you'll be able to get the 2011 season versions of the 11 NASCAR race cars for the first time.

Some of the other improvements introduced are greatly reduced load times when loading races, quicker menu response times, and adjustable opponent AI in Arcade Mode. Players will now have the option to save their progress during lengthy racing events so they can come back and finish at a later time, and can also adjust weather conditions for races using a slider function that goes from mild to severe.

Some of these are RUBBISH, I chose 3 random 'standard' cars, they all just have a black outlined of the dashboard (hard to explain) with no detail at all! still the load times are indeed better
