Hello,
Ive just bought a Leadtek A7600GT AGP GFX card which i cannot get to display in my Abit NF7-S motherboard. When i install the card and turn the machine on the bios gives one beep and starts to load windows although i do not get any display on my monitor. Ive tried the card in a ECS board and it posts and displays perfectly. I then tried the card in my Pentoum 4 system which has an Abit pentium 4 motherboard and i had the same problem as i did with the nf7-s.
Im in real need of some help here as i do not wish to upgrade my motherboard and cpu at the moment and would really like to get this card to working with my current system.
Please help.
Squonk.
Tried resetting the BIOS?
yes, ive tried that.
Have you connected the power cable to it? (Assuming it needs one).
I spent about an hour troubleshooting a system Id built until I noticed I hadnt connected the power cable to the gfx card. :whoops:
yes i have coonected the internal molex power cable, but i do not get any display, the bios beeps once but nothing on screen.
Did you uninstall any previous graphics card and set windows to its default driver? Usually its OK but Ive had problems a couple of times doing that.
Secondly the card may not be compatible with the NF7S MoBo, should be very unlikely but it does happen on occasions.
Yes i have uninstalled all previous drivers, but i do not get any post information, let alone windows screens.
is there also an onboard GFX card? perhaps one that is nicking the output before it gets to your AGP slot?
No, the board doesnt have onboard GFX.
I cant work this one out!
Are the fans spinning? Might be a power problem.
Yes the fan is spinning and ive just upgraded my power supply to 580w.
Im beginning to think that Leadtek are not compatible with ABit motherboards.
When i plug the card into a ECS board it displays lovely.

shouldnt be an issue.
hmm, one thought though. Are you using the same cables? Can you test with other ones on your board as well?
If you are using different Monitors with integral cables, or thos ebloody crap converters they always throw in you may have problems.

If you have a spare drive try swapping and installing a fresh windows set-up onto it. That will get rid of any potential driver problems. If it doesnt then its more likely a compatibility issue and it would be worth asking Leadtek.
I have tried different cables and still get the same no display from POST, although the bios beeps once and starts to load windows.
I dont know what else to try.
Its a long shot but has anybody else had any issuew ith Leaktek cards and ABit boards?
You are sure its seating properly? Might be going in and then springing back out over time :/
Actually thats probably grasping at straws.
You might be better off talking to the makers

What voltage does the mobo throw out and check that its the correct one for the graphics card. Tbh its one hell of a waist going AGP these days on buying a new card... Its only money wasted..
I know that AGP are on thier last legs, but i did not want to upgrade my system at the moment as the hardware is changing so quickly that its hard to knoww hich platform to go for and i cant afford it. Its ok if you have the money to upgrade, but i do not.
Still no joy with the card, im not buying Abit rubbish again, fair enough the board has been overal good its just i cant believe the hassle im having with getting this card to work  .
Abit have responded to my email, but have just told me to get intouch with the graphics card manufacturer, which i have and they just go through the usual route of is the card seated properly etc...
Seriously fedup with computers
Ive never had any problems with Abit tbh, wish I could swap my current Asus board for an Abit.
I agree White Giant Abit are usually very good boards, i have always bought Abit, its just so annoying that you buy a card which should work with the NF7-S but doesnt.
To add insult to Abit i have just tried it in a PCChips and it powersup and displays lovely, i mean if it will work in a PCChips cheapo motherboard then why in the heck wont it work with the NF7 - S?
Ive even tried upping the AGP voltage to 1.7v and chipset, still no display??

Join the club. They are like women, only less expensive ;)
I do remember with a 6800gt card that they had trouble with abit mobos, they seemed to seat ok but there was a capacitor very close to the agp port that the card hit and stopped it from working.
It was only on an abit mobo, and you had to modify the card to make it fit.
Well i guess im gonna have to change the motherboard to one that the card works in as im a little afraid to sell in on incase buyer buys it for present and the dam thing doesnt work in his motherboard either.
I will no longer be supporting ABit as they have been no use .
Even my local pc shop was a load of rubbish, so i told them where to go .
It seems to get advice from a shop or even to test the card is like beating your head against a brick wall!
Really fedup
