I am still using Linksys WRT54G with tomato firmware would like a better modem though and telia uses only thomson :( is draytek a modem or both ? and can it take Tomato or DD-WRT firmwares ?

AFAIK, the Drayteks only use Draytek firmware.
It's a little confusing at first but it's solid.  I never have to reboot mine, and I've always got something downloading.  It's getting hammered 24/7

I've also got various sites using a mix of 2820's and 2830's and they are absolutely solid too.

Using a Draytek 120 modem coupled to a cable router is a piece of P.  Set the router to PPPoE and put your username and password in.  Job done.
Modem has no controls other than VCI/VPI and Line type.

The asus rt-n56u looks promising!

I'd double check that one, it looks like it might be cable only, not ADSL: http://www.pcpro.co.uk/reviews/wifi-routers/371296/asus-rt-n56u

That's kind of the point.
You buy the Draytek 120 to go with it and you have a mega-stable setup that can handle tonnes of simultaneous connections

If you have a compatible asus router http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Tomato_Firmware/Supported_Devices#Asus I do recommend tomato as firmware for a faster and more stable performance.

The Draytek 120 looks good :) and I see people using it with linksys 54 :)

I was sure it was reviewed as an adsl jobbie!

Hmm well the belkin Playmax looks ok, any thoughts?

Not really looking to spend too much tbh! Would love an expensive jobbie but no point for my usage :)
