Installing windows...

And now the disk is being used in my big base unit and getting further than before.

My opinion is simply from experiance, Im usually loading at least 1 XP machine every week or two.  Ive seen it happen before where it was asking for files, I swapped it for another disc and it was fine.  Imo its so important to get the installation right from scratch of any windows OS, especially server.

However, if you did reload it a second time and you were still getting bsod then yes it is the hardware, probably the ram.  Thats what happend with one Dell Precision that came in, end up sending it back.  Im knocking that possibility but I wouldnt be suprised if it was just a knackered disc.
