I've had no problems with my BB connection since I moved in nearly 2 years ago, then all of a sudden in the last couple of weeks my connection is painfully slow.

I just checked my router's control panel (it's a Belkin PoS) and my ADSL was listed as being connected at a whopping 192Kb/s. I've just re-set the router and it's now up to a slightly more sensible 2976, but it used to connect at over 4 meg.

any ideas where the fault is likely to be? Don't particularly want to spend hours battling through call centres only to find it's my router all along.

I've just been to speedtest.net and I'm getting 0.12Mb down, 0.39 up. WTF? why is my upload faster than my download? what on earth is going on?

update, it seems that my router being synced stupidly slow has caused BT to drop my IP Profile to 130Kb/s, so even though my router is now synced at 3Mb/s, I'm still only seeing 135K and that's all I'll get for until the slow sync rate drops off the radar in 3 days time GRRRRRRRRR!!!

Your first port of call should always be the ISP (I'm signing up to Plusnet today as it happens), they will usually perform tests their end and if they can't find a solution will call out an engineer courtesy of BT. Don't even bother trying to phone BT, your brain will melt and your soul will pour down the phoneline into their corporate buggery machine.
