Ive had my iPod about a year now, but since I upgraded to vista i seem to have problems transferring ripped music.
Any purchased/downloaded tracks transfer fine, but if I rip music from a CD and then try to transfer the songs from My Music folder (where theyre ripped to) to my iPod... it has none of it and throws this message
(http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c24/adikt87/ipoderror.jpg)
Ive double and triple checked the folder throwing the problem and its parent folder (its The Pigeon Detectives folder in this case) and I have full read/write/access rights to all of them...
I have no idea what to do next, tried googling the problem but no one else seems to have it
Any ideas would be great
help =(
Vista does not like Itunes and apple have yet to do an update for it to properly work with it, but MS have done a fix you can download but I have no idea if it will solve your problem

cheers for the reply
i updated vista with everything available and still no avail
i set all my access priveleges to full control and STILL no avail
there is something weird with my machine tho... i bought it about 8 months ago, and the initial user name was HP_Administrator which i later changed to Jay...
my machine is also named JAY so I have a user set up as JAY\HP_Administrator and I also have a user set up as Jay\USERS which is kinda confusing
the Jay\USERS access rights were set to read and access only, so i changed them to full control, however... when i did that it created a new entry with no inherited access priveleges (but had full control) and left the old entry for Jay\USERS with read & access only priveleges
I tried to remove the entry containing only the read & access priveleges, but the button is greyed out (because they are inherited priveleges from some other program)....
its really confusing but when Im back on my desktop later I shall post a screen shot of what I mean
thanks for the help

Also, direct link to a hot fix that may also be of use...

If this is actually the case check the secuity options on that folder and make sure you are the owner if possible.

have done that...
i posted a long description of the way my users are set out, because i upgraded from vista its made a mess of the users
In the end something may have just gone wrong, you might have to reformat and reinstall to get it working properly.
I had an issue with an MP3 player and XP that was similar, although I never found out the exact cause.
