Title: Iron Man
Post by: TheMallrat on May 01, 2008, 15:44:57 PM
Just got back from seeing Iron Man, and all I have to say is its a bloody good movie. I could write more, but right now GTA 4 is calling me.

Oh yeah, go see it.

The trailers certainly look good.

I wonder if many such threads are going to begin in the coming days "going to post more but cant resist GTA4"

Im not giving in 10/10 but I thought it was an excellent film.  A real joy to watch.

I never read the comic books but I sense they did a great job with the main character.

In the scheme of comic/cartoon -> movie films, where would you guys place it in the following list (top being best of course)

Batman Begins
Transformers

Ok, short list, but Ive seen both and Id say they were probably two of the best of those movies in recent times, so would be interesting to see where it rates...

Hardly seems fair to rate Dark Knight when no one has seen it yet Liam.

My thoughts too. EPIC FAIL for it not being on the list either ;)

I loved the trailer, best use of a classic rock track in a movie trailer EVER.

that film was absolutely superb!

I was honestly begining to think that I had in some way "grown out of" action films, but no, it turns out the last few Ive seen just werent very good.

Not a bad word to say about it :)

I loved the first half, then felt it dragged on a bit and the final showdown let it all down for me a bit. :( If theyd trimmed down the second half Id have been extremely happy. Ive never seen Gwyneth Paltrow looking so foxy either!

3 w00ts! :w00t:  :w00t:  :w00t:

OMG worst metaphor I have ever seen on here lol ....but anyway in a more everyday metaphor "I would" even after seeing real life pic's, a stone or 2 would help a lot for me :P

Really enjoyed it got the feeling at the end a lot was added to set up the next film, which is fine by me I'm looking forward to it  :)

I definitely would pepper her potts

Im hoping that youre right there, I could be more forgiving of how the second half panned out assuming its setup for the next film. I hope that tops this, then it will definitely move into awesome territory.

There are definitely two more Iron Man films confirmed with Robert Downey Jnr, plus the Avengers crossover with the Hulk/Thor/Captain America who all have films coming out in 2008/2009. There was too much scene setting for there not to be a sequel, from the Sam Jackson cameo at the end as the director of SHIELD to Jim Rhodes "next time.." hinting at War Machine.

I think I definately have grown out of these types of film - I thought it was a bit too directed at the 7-10 year old audience.
