I just sold my DVI monitor to someone at work. On there POC they dont have the connection that allows them to connect a DVI cable.

Is there such an adaptor you can buy which allows you to do this?
If so whats it called ?

Indeed, thats what you want. Cheap as chips.

Moving to hardware...

I wouldnt count on that working. It assumes that the monitor has a DVI-I connection on it. Ive only seen one model that does, the vast majority have plain DVI-D.

DVI-VGA adapters are generally just electrical connectors, they dont do any signal conversion.

Yeah AFAIK, the DVI-VGA adaptor is if you want to run a monitor with only the standard 15-pin D-sub from the DVI port on the PC. Not the other way around.
