itunes is carp imho. It doesnt show all my mp3s and its generally flakey with my ipod.

I prefer MP3 and a cheapo player tbh.

Score 1 own goal for demeaning the banter on the forums.

Not really any need for that, was there?

1) it wasnt really a technical comment was it?
2) it wasnt even a request for assistance, was it?
3) it wasnt even a structured post, was it?
4) [my post] was completely tongue in cheek.
5) considering 1,2,3 it was waffle.
6) i routinely got my legs slapped via PM on the old forum for posting comments like that.

1) No, but its a software comment
2) Maybe not, could be implied, in any case its a discussion point
3) Worse slips through the net, tbh...
4) Even if it was, not everyone would take it nice. A smile wouldnt have gone amiss.
5) If I thought it was nonsensical driven I would have moved it.
6) I dont recall, but if you think Im being unfair, PM an admin :D

i think ipods are stunning little bits of kit, as to be fair, are some other players - the gulf between the pods and the others i.e. irivers is nothing more than a rizlas width...

itunes is fine for the uneducated i.e. those who do not know that other players exist and as a result will never leave itunes...

but for people like ourselves who may well look at other players, itunes is a pain in the tits, e.g. i have a tonne of tunes purchased through itunes (yes, i know, i know - but i dont use P2P etc. anymore and other music stores dont play well on the mac) and the prospect of having to muck about with them [the apple tracks] to play on a non apple player is mildly irritating to say the least.

N.B. it is possible to circumvent apples system, but its a DOS prompt affair, which, again, is a collossal pain in the stones.

fair enough,

maybe it was his [as per usual] half baked literary style that made it seem nonsensical.

The original post which again, uses the word "gay" to somehow imply something negative, is what brings down the level of discussion.

Gay can mean happy or joyful, or it is often used to describe a homosexual male. Obviously, by the context of the post, the OP does not consider Itunes to be happy, or a great cooker of brunch.

Get a dictionary, folks.

Itunes does indeed suck, if thats what youre getting at--but its not gay, as if it did, it would also blow.

Ipod=turd, fwiw.

Not wanting to turn this into a ball-breaking fest, but while I know you hate the overuse of the word for its connotation, most people use it in a derogatory fashion that doesnt suggest anything anti-homosexual. The word has moved on from there for all but the obvious homophobes. Even if it were and red is a hideous bigot, to direct the insult towards an inanimate object is of even less concern. A discussion on semantics over whether or not calling something gay is homophobic really is not worth more text on the page here, we can take that elsewhere.

If red chooses to use the word then shake your head at him, the rest of the discussion should carry on untarnished IMO.

If this could stay on what little topic there is, now that would be swell  :-)

My last girlfriend did that and it was very enjoyable so completely unlike a rubbish, overpriced bit of Apple kit...

Its about being linguistically lazy. The English language has enough words to find something more fitting.  Its the language equivalent of having pants hanging halfway down your ass. I dont care if everybodys doing it, it still makes you look like a foolish cretin.

As for the Apple thing. If  youve had but one poke in its holy database folder, it will usually scream bloody murder. Its more fragile than three pork meatballs, stacked on top of each other, using only a slightly viscous gravy as mortar.

I think apple deserve some credit for bringing mp3 to a wider, dumber, audience through all those crappy adverts. But I still wouldnt buy owt from them.

You mean to say its a batter not a catcher, and that a gay threesome with much semen seepage would be a good analogy for the piece of software known as Itunes.

lol whos using homophobic comparisons now! :P

I told you, NO HAPPY ENDINGS! :D

Red, did you try killing the database file and starting from scratch? (Dont even think about doing this if youve got tunes from the Itunes website).

Theres always Zinf, Realplayer, or Foobar2000.

datawhat?

as to my lazy literary style, i put it down to lazyness.

i shall google your database idea, as it seems like a grand plan.

as to my association of itunes and the "alternative" part of society, it was merely a slip of the tongue.
you could call it a slip-rim-job.

on a side note, we can cast this thread into the eternal ether that is back topics, i appear to have fixed it.

i went into common data, deleted the itunes folder, and also into my music and deleted my itunes folder there. heh break my library shall you, WELL YOU ARE BANISHED FROM THE KINGDOM OF PIRATING PIRATE ..

then i reinstalled.

all is well.

I do use itunes becuase of my ipod and i cant be bothered to set other stuff up.
Fine for me really bar the fact that it seems very keen to shuffle and play the shania twain album (ex-girfriends) songs ever other song :/
