I can't ermember this film

I was sure it was mel gibson
his wife just goes missing
he tries to find her
but no one will admit to seeing her
even though they were just in the town

I thought it had bruce mgGill or someone just like him as a lorry driver.

only thing my searches bring up is Frantic (1988) with Harrison Ford

it's set in the desert ?

they have her locked in a chest freezer underground in a barn at the end ?

the "baddies" are doing it to steal stuff (from lorries etc...)


near the start, one of the "baddies" disconnects something under the bonnet so there car overheats on the road...

they split up, he stays with the car (red 4x4thing) and she goes with a truck driver to go get help

they're about to kill her, but she pretends her husband is rich so they should hold her for ransom, she tell s them he's a "donut king" after seeing something on a pack of donuts ?   they phone him for ransom... they're just about to kill her because he doesn't click on until they say something about being a king and he plays along ?
