...and I have to say OMG its fast
Needless to say its not for me but rather for one of the directors who does a crap load of Photoshop/Adobe/DVD burning work so itll no doubt go to waste !
I had no idea how expensive CPUs could be, I mean Ã,£700ish on a processor !
The full spec is:
Shuttle SD37P2
Intel Core Duo 2.94ghz X6800
2gb Kingston PC5300
nVidia Quatro FX PCI-E
2* 250GB Seagate SATA disks (stripped)
Sony DL DVDRW
Its jaw droppingly lovely, I am just praying that he didnt realise that the shuttle has no legacy ports (i.e. no Parallel). That will be ideal for me
This machine has single handedly converted me to the ways of DualCore, I think I will be selling my remaining 2 rigs soon in an attempt to fund a move over !
I have the low end AMD Duel Core and tbh the top end Intel is calling to me :/ (no money, lol)
Though Quad Core Amd looks porper druel as well :/
Damn good CPUs those, Id buy one if I needed one. My 2.7GHz Dual Core Opteron is doing fine for me though as I mostly just play games and web browse.
oh believe me, its all drool worthy when youre still on a XP3200 and a P4 3.2 ;)
I am contemplating a cheap stop gap upgrade from my P4 3.2 to a PentiumD 3.4. That way I can refuse my RAM and GFX and buy myself sometime to save for something a bit better (like a house) :)
How much was the final bill?
I believe it was somewhere in the region of Ã,£1300ex vat.
The only reason he got those components was because he circumvented me and bought the stuff himself based on "suggestions from his son" :/
I was just going to slap another gig of RAM in his P4 3.2, thatd have kept him happy :)
My world has been shattered :(
Not only is he putting up with the lack of serial port on the shuttle...he is ordering another complete setup !
...I angled for one but apparently developing software on a slower machine makes for more efficent software and if I had a beast of a rig, I would just create bloatware :(
(Hes quite right but thats not the point :))
