Has anyone sent a mobile away before for repair? Mine was sick on a few months ago.....and it was only a week old, so wouldnt mind getting it fixed really. T-Mobile wont do it, but there seems to be websites on the net which fix water damaged phones.......like:

FYI, water very rarely destorys electronics if its just water so it may just need opening up and letting dry.

If there was salt/sugar in the water though they probably wont be able to fix it as its basically destroyed.

T-Mobile sent it away, and it got sent back with a pic, and the board inside did look quite messy......but im not totally sure why it looked so bad on the inside, as the outside/keypad looks fine. It was baby sick, so probably a bit worse than water.

If thats the case then its acidic, hydrochloric acid, possibly others too.

You might be better off opening it up and trying to wash the main unit yourself, then letting it dry without the battery attached.

Would washing it help? As if its knackered the board, then id guess its corroded stuff rather than making it damp.

Cleaning it off might enable you to see where its damaged. Also the stuff may be acting as a resistance between the tracks so removing it and then drying it out properly could help.

You dont lose anything except your time trying.

Ive fixed a fair amount of electronics/phones by running them under a tap then leaving it to dry for a week or so occasionally blowing it to get all the loose water pools out.

A phone will be running on 2.8 or 3.3V at almost no current so its worth a try when all else fails.  Rescued two from beer/wine spills but lost one to coke.  Sugar nails them as even with loads of water you never get rid of it unfortunately.

blast the pcb of the phone with isoprophyl alcohol and let it dry for a few hours and then wrap it properly with a kitchen tissue paper and put it inside your pc and let it dry their for a few days. The heat inside the pc will help it dry faster.
