The Samsungs are great. I have one myself and have many friends who have bought them and not had one complaint.

Aria are doing em for like £300. dunno what theyre like though.

Bigpockets are doing a 32" AOC for £359, I got one in March and its fab.

That AOC is tempting, but its not got a freeview tuner built in

Bit concerned about the poor native resolution of the panel over VGA though.

I was in House of Fraser earlier looking at sets, some appear to have very smooth motion and others are very choppy, almost like they are skipping frames, is this down to the sets or poor calibration? Both with the choppiness were being fed a DVD, not TV.

Not exactly OT but something to consider for people looking at sets I should imagine.

Ive used one with 1366 x 768 and it works perfectly well. Its the 1080P ones that may have problems interfacing over a standard VGA lead.

Bit big and a bit costly!

When I mentioned my £600 budget to the missus, I got a very dissaproving look.  So I think the AOC may be the one.  Youd have thought they know what they are doing as they have been making monitors for many years.

The main part of an LCD TVs visual performance with freeview is the upscaler and thats something that Sony cant be beaten on at the moment.

Samsung are good as are Panasonic.

I would see the AOC in action before buying it, while theyve been making monitors its not the same as making a TV to deal with the sh*t resolution of freeview.

Its more the down to playing 360 on it.  The freeview isnt essential but with the switchover getting closer, I see no point in buying a TV without it.

Sony Bravia U2000U Under £500.  Is it worth getting 5 year panel protection?

Our AOC ones in our factory are fine, great pic and good vibrant colours, but have suffered from burn in after about 3 months use.

Hannsprees are good, weve had them 6 months and are fine. Again nice colours etc... bit chunkier than your Sonys or Sammys though.

Load of bollocks. This comes up time and time again, non-technical marketing suckers fall for it and then brag about their superior sets.
