Just been told im expesive.  Someone asked on my forum how much i charge to fit a Hard Disk.  I have a standard bottom rate of Ã,£10 on a quick install like that, or Ã,£15/Ã,£20 is someone wants a full drive mirror as well (depends on the size of the HDD im mirroring off).  Now personally i think thats cheap, but someone else is ranting over MSN at me that its too expensive.

Edit: That seem reasonable to people?  seems pretty cheap to me, i just use it for beer and cig money.

knighty

yeah sounds reasonable to me, much better that what PC world and the like would charge :)

got to remember, sometimes a simple HD install can be a pain in the ass :(

Shaun

Your very cheap lol :D  I would change 20 quid to fit a HDD,  more if they werent local, (more again for business customers).

Its a hours labour at the end of the day.

Tell the guy to go to PCWorld next time!

Goblin

Very cheap. Anything I do is a basic of Ã,£25 on the assumption that the minimum amount of time you can pay for is an hour.
It's all fun and games until a 200' robot dinosaur shows up and trashes Neo-Tokyo... Again.

I think I recall taking you to task once over your prices and then after some discussion I decided you were actually pretty reasonable. This is definitely reasonable :-)

Pete

Not worth the hassle, Ã,£10 for lifetime support - "whys it making a funny noise?", "wheres my CV gone?", "Why does my printer keep jamming?"....

Personally Id want Ã,£75.
I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

i only overprice when i either dont want a job, or _know_ its going to be hassle.  In this case the dude is getting the HDD himself and hell be dropping the stuff off for me.  One exampe of me having great fun with pricing was the few hundred pounds I charged someone for a full disk data rescue, though he had been quoted Ã,£2k for it previously, and we dont like each other.

That is very cheap, if they grumble, send them to PC world, where they will no doubt be bent over the counter, wallet firmly clasped in mouth and ridden.... hard.

Mark

Damn straight its cheap - I get charged out at Ã,£1000 per day for any cisco work!

I would charge my helpdesk/first line people out at Ã,£500/day as well

These are corporate rates however.
