Since the patch update recently media player videos in web page have the box but will not play, any idea whats up?

Try checking your firewalls program control settings. Zone Alarm decided Media Player wasnt trustworthy on mine and totally blocked it, might be the same for you.

i had a similar problem with apple not integrating, mostly because of the new vlc beta which has a truly awful firefox plugin that caused firefox to crash out whenever i tried to open a page with mov files embedded, i just reinstalled quicktime, not sure what you could do though.

I would advise looking at the plugins folder and settings for firefox too, might be something trying to use it that doesnt work

The "media connectivty" plug in might help

skidzilla

type about:plugins into the address bar and make sure the right plugins are handling their correct MIME types.

If you really want a quick fix, you could try this and use IEs version of the media player control, but its risky (Ive never tried it).

Every now and again videos will play audio but not display any video, i just scroll down one notch, video appears, scroll back up!
