Title: Microfilter or new Faceplate?
Post by: chrisdicko on June 10, 2014, 07:30:02 AM
My internet keeps dropping at regular intervals, so my first port of call is to replace the microfilter.

Is it worth changing the whole faceplace? I'm sure I have read that this is better now rather than a plug in microfilter? If so, which one should I go for?

I'm with standard Sky broadband at 16meg.

Cheers

By faceplate, I think I mean master socket?

Cheers :)

Not sure there is much in it and I expect you can get a filter for free from your ISP or someone who has a spare, but would phone your line provider and ask for a line check tbh

The first thing they will tell you to do is plug it into the master socket and try a new filter, so its worth trying a spare one anyway.

Nice one, cheers. I will get a new filter and go from there.

I've only got the one socket in my flat.

They tend to install a faceplate now so it's in an integrated filter with a dedicated RJ-11 ADSL port, so that other sockets don't require filters.  Even then if you wanted to test it properly, I would get a new micro filter, take of the existing plate and plug straight into the master socket.
