Me and my mate are wanting to use a Mic for Warcraft, as it will be a lot easier than typing.

Weve tried through MSN, but that doesnt seem to work too well, so is there anything free out there which works really well and is simple??

Cheers

Team Speak 2.  I personally prefer it to Ventrillo, but it really is personal preference.

Team speak 2 I do not know about, not used it but team speak was robot voices and ventrilo was crystal clear all the time, Again though personal preference but you can some them up really as follows

Warcraft chat system - Nice to see who is talking in game etc apperently but the quality is crap, early days and quality will improve over time as the software is improved but crap for now but a start if you want to chat to people in game
Team speak - Uses less bandwidth then vent but the quality is the downside for most people
Ventrilo - Easy to use, probably a few less features and 3rd party support then team speak but generally people say quality is better, better codec

Team speak has the better plugins and features in regards to websites and code for displaying server details etc although vent 3.0 has more then it used to in this regard to allow similar stuff.

Vent all the way, find yourself a nice empty server and chat away.

Dont bother with the ingame voice chat, it sounds like a dodgy £2.99 walkie talkie from Argos.

Niceone, cheers lads! Will give them both a go :)

teamspeak 2, and SHOOT set up on seperate key presses, means voice control of your game, and voice chat. :) Totally awesome.

Used it in eve online.

Ive downloaded Vent, but how do you set it up? As in find a server etc, as where you select the server there isnt any listed, and I dont know the details of any. And what are the keys to chat etc?

Cheers

For setting up Vent : http://www.ventrilo.com/setup.php

As for finding a server, that is the challenge my young warrior. After you have done this, bring me 50 bear asses and I will reward you with this totally useless item!

Go now, time is of the essence.

ill have the TS2 server up in a couple of days.  ill be passwording it, but ill distribute the passwords to people.  The only real rule with it is that it isnt for somones WoW clan to use at the expense of everyone else.  While i wont mind a few folks using it, shoving a shedload of people on to organise a raid will annoy me.  Its what happened to my TS server the last time i set it up, and why itll be passworded.

Vent all the way, so much clearer than TS2. When I was helping out another guild quite a bit I had to use their TS2 server and it was just nasty... suppose its what you are used to.

People use TS2 becuase its less bandwidth intensive and normally alot cheaper when renting a server.

Aye a good vent server runs at around £14 a month, so to chat to a single mate might be a little expensive - but as I said there are plenty of public vent servers out there, youve just gotta find one.

Leon

Just go find and join a guild that has one :P or just host it yourself (dont know any details of that myself)
