Ahhhh ok, I thought you meant you needed to pay to host.

I have a paid account and am guessing Mongoose does too. I thought we all knew that multiplayer = paid accounts.

Im getting "logging in" followed by "Disconnected by server Took too long to log in" error messages, could be me more than you though, will see if I need to do anything special to connect like sort out ports.

Im trying to find out what the deal is but no luck.

Youve not got some whitelist thing going on, and there isnt a setting needing setting that states how long you can have before you time out?

its because the minecraft servers are being overloaded, it needs to check your login with the main server as part of the login to the server Im running, and its taking too long.... I made some changes to the server settings so it should be ok now (try again)

firewall etc.. should all be ok, you are connecting to it....

I shouldnt need to do anything firewall-y should I? I mean, its connecting and your server is seeing me, so if something was blocking the connection it wouldnt get that far?

Ill try rebooting the router, maybe a fresh IP will help.

Tried with and without the port and still get the same thing. Hopefully Mongoose or someone can confirm whether its me or the Minecraft server playing up by logging in.

supposedly when checking ports 25565 is closed for me, but afaik its all open on the router.

EDIT:

I just tried (successfully) to connect to one of the servers on the minecraft servers page. I logged in straight away, so Im thinking it might not be my computer.

Maybe a silly question, but are you sure you got the alpha multiplayer server and not the classic server?
