6300 is a Conroe, and the 4300 is the Allendale Core IIRC.  I belive there is a significanrt performance difference between the two.

Seems the 6300 is only a wee bit faster, not worth the extra dosh by the looks of it.

6300 is an Allendale .Conroes have 4mb of cache , the 6300 & 6400 both were released with 2mb of cache.This is the full amount of cache on the chip , so they are not like Celerons that had some of the cache diabled.
The new 6320 is a Conroe , it has the full 4mb cache.
The extra cache of the 6320 over the 6300 gives a performance increase similar to a 200mhz increase in clock speed.
The performance between the 6300 & the 4300 is relatively small but clock for clock the 6300 is faster because of the higher fsb(4300 is a 800mhz fsb & 6300 is a 1066 fsb chip)

I went for the 4300, looks like a nice clocker. I might sell it on, dunno yet but Ill have a play with it first.

Thats wrong.

The E4xxx series is Allendale due to its native 2mb, the E6xxx series is Conroe as they have 4mb on the core just with half disabled.

After a bit of research it appears you are right.

Apparently when the cpus were first released the release notes had Allendale on them & so were described in reviews as Allendales.My version of CPUZ reported mine as Allendale but looking @ the new version it says Conroe.
