I thought it would be an interesting project to point my webcam out of the window at the street and then try to record a hit whenever a car passes, and try to work out the colour of the car, giving you a graph of how many of each colour car there were at the end of the day.

I reckon it should be doable, you can do motion detection and stuff with a webcam, and if you set it to record for a few seconds when motion happens, you could then get the colour difference between some of the photos to try and work out an approximation to the car colour

Anyone got any experience of doing anything similar or any image processing type stuff and could give me any pointers/ideas or recommend any libraries to help me?

Cheers
Joe
