Title: Music Player...
Post by: twist on September 08, 2007, 00:36:42 AM
Well I always used to use Winamp for my music... then with ipods came itunes and i ended up flipping onto it. I use VLC for all my other media.

iTunes is actually pretty rubbish imo and with 20,000 song in my library its creaking.

What do you guys use to play your music collections?

I think i need to scout out a new app for my music.

Winamp and a good file structure, never needed anything else.

Ive tried various programs that sort by genre or tempo, they were all crap.

Winamp. Never found anything thats as intuitive and handles so many files so well. Its got a nice small memory footprint with the classic skin as well.

Foobar (http://www.foobar2000.org/) is ok as you can configure it after your own needs but a bit of tinkering, before you get it as you like, is needed. It is free though.

Seconded, I love Foobar. Probably the least resource intensive player youll find too, when configured properly.

Winamp.  Now has out-of-the-box support for ipods, although the Ipod_ML plugin used to be what I used.
