Well the time came, got my brand new samsung syncmaster 19" 940BF 2ms LCD delivered yesterday afternoon... Boy was i excited, and scared also... dead pixels they say. :)
Lets just say it wasnt brand new for now...
Firstly, the biggest giveaway from dabs and any other seller for that matter is the product box being taped more then once on the outside. I knew instantly, id been shafted. Opened it up, everything was sealed; the cables, the manuals, the driver cd, the lcd monitor base panel, the king kong bundled game, all sealed.
Lifted the polystyrene panels to get to the jewel! lifted it out (heavy bugger)... 1st. No protecting film on the screen, 2nd. finger prints, and a few stains, 3rd. The underside of the LCDs neck (which fixes to the base) had signs of wear, cracked plastic clipping mechnanism, so blatantly used before, im pretty certain whoever had this LCD had trouble getting it of its base panel and started forcing it till the plastic clips cracked and ate away.
I have to say how incredibly upset and angry i am! I have just bought new furniture for my room, and have got everything ready, now thanks to dabs i have to stop in my tracks and have the hassle of waiting for an RMA reply, send it back, and get another one.
This isnt the first time dabs have done this, and i am damn right F**ked off to the maximum! I didnt pay Ã,£207 for a used bit of trash. And there is no way i am going to sit and accept this.
Anybody have the same experience? :(
Yes, with lots of things from Dabs. Motherboards, hard drives, you name it, Ive had second had stock delivered as new. Once I returned an RMA in person to their warehouse posing as a courier. The chap took the package off me, signed the form Id printed and chucked it (a good 20 feet) across the counter to the floor. It then took me twelve weeks to get my money back off them.
Ive not touched Dabs since.
Oh my god, what have i done :(
I always shop from Misco, but they tend to be more expensive by a few quid or so, but they never let me down once since i used them over 5 years ago now...
:( Thanks for your reply
MGT
I feel more wary about my bargain laser printer purchase now :(
The one thing I miss most about working for an e-tailer is knowing how the goods are handled and knowing when something is being packing with due care.
It makes me sick that people can treat what is essentially someone elses property in such a way. :disappointed:
Like I said in your last thread this happend to me, same thing all the bags unopened except for the screen, and finger prints on the plastic cover.
I never rmad it Ill just never use them again.
I mean i really cannot express how ecxited i was about getting this, my very first LCD and like the fatest available at that, i was like a little school boy again, laughing and stuff lol, but this was a big kick in the guts for me :(
I really hope your purchase goes smoothly Clockd
Hi Filbert, as long as yours didnt have any damage, thats a big bonus, but the feeling that somebody has been touching and using the product you payed full whack for, is not nice.
I should get a return without a hassle, because where the damage is located can only have been caused by the force of cliping / uncliping the lcd to the base... well not the base in the box cause thats sealed, whatever other base it was used from.
you cant sell used products as new its against the law its gotta be B grade surely
i know dabs sell used and new stock on most items, but this was seriously brand new :( Its a bummer isnt it
Get them to refund your return carriage as well, kick up a real sh*t storm about it if they dont for selling used/opened/damaged goods as A-grade.
good luck to you mate.
i hope everything goes smoothly.
remember to shop with known retailers you trust.
like tekheads back "in the day ;)"
^^
nige must have made quite an impression on the new tek lads... received a PSU yesterday with enough bubble wrap for me to build myself a bubble wrap bouncy castle !
I sitck with using Aria.co.uk whenever possible.
Otherwise its Komplett, Scan, Overclockers or Tekheads.

LOL I kept them in check when I was there ;)
They are good packers at Tek still, good warehouse staff.
I remember buying loads of parts from tekheads some years back, inlcluding an 9800XT lol, Chieftec case, fans and a few others. Great packaging and all new stuff, delivery was dodgy for me at times ;)
Hopefully tommorow i will get an RMA number and get this sucka back to them. I guess ebuyer or aria wil be my next choice... down the line :)
Good news, got my RMA code earlier today (thursday), dabs arranged pickup with me for tommorow between 9am - 5pm, so looks like the lcd is on its way back!!! :D
I thought as i will be sending it back, may aswell fiddle about with it, look at it properly enjoy what th next one i buy should look like, hehe... but funnily enough i discovered yet another ridiclous sign of previous usage, when i lifted the rear panel to have a look at the connections, written across the underside in HUGE text was some sort of date 16/02/06 in bloody wax crayon or yellow pencil, along with a cheaply printed sticker labelled Feb 2006 stuck dead in the center...
Oh my this really is the biggest piss take in history as far as my purchases have gone :(
Glad its being returned, cant stand the sight of it in front of me!
Contact your local Trading Standards and ask them what applies to you in this case. Then detail everything in a letter to Dabs and send it recorded delivery to them. TS will advise you to do this and what to put in the letter. Dont stick it in with the monitor. That way if Dabs continue to mess you around you have a paper record of what happened when.
You may be best writing to the CEO or MD of Dabs, he wont see it but unless Dabs are now a really dodgy place there will be someone dealing with written complaints. If they do nothing and deny receiving the letter, you have proof of delivery to prove they had it delivered. Its their problem, not yours.

Photograph it as evidence too if you have a camera, just in case.
TBH I haventdealt with Dabs but was stung by ebuyer before the law changed on returns, had some difficulty sorting that out so havent done any business with them since.
Thanks for that information Deaths and Serious.
Im going to photo it all now before it gets picked up. Will take some time to write the letter too and contact TS. Didnt think this would be needed, but when you think about it whats stopping them for kippering me further? Id rather it ended immediately.!
Thanks alot guys
Just thought id let you guys know, dabs refunded the Ã,£207 this morning. And id like to thank you all for gving me the courage to stick it through without crumbling, like i would have done normally :(
Im now back to where i started, and deciding where to buy from next, as i want the same lcd.
Dabs again? lol
tbh ive had no problems with Aria. After i got an Aspire X-Pack with a faulty PSU i got in contact with them, they got back to me straight away. Swapped out the case with no hassle and questions.
Ive bought quite a few of the cheapy LCDs fomr them, and while they arent the best ive come accross, they are better than many others ive used.
