Now take into account i started it tuesday evening and it is early days but wondering...

Currently moving host and will have this on a new host and a new site with new design (personal site stuff etc) so all basic format for now:

1. What you think so far
2. Any comments on it so far - likes, dont likes etc
3. What you would like to see in a gallery or image upload kit that is not in current ones etc.

you need a way of making the thumbnails keep the aspect ratio.

I did something similar when I made my Java based image browser thing, so its rather simple providing you get PHP to get the dimensions of the image prior to the resize.

Oh...and Ability to upload zipfiles, depending on the hosts security you should be able to use php to execute rar and stuff to unzip and unrar files.

I have made it, just turned it off to get a layout i liked in terms of equal sizes etc. The problem is with regard to deformation of the gallery, height is ok but varied width can mess it up and will be looking at that next.

As for the zip thing, maybe down the line, zip fles are iffy, but i see where your getting at in terms mass gallery creation and would be easy for the user and a good idea.

I think I could do a few versions in the end
Public Just image uploader store with imageshack type options and alittle more that i think is needed

And a private version for peoplelike fashion and graphic deisngers or even game guilds etc where they have login feature and custom controls with thar zip file element in it (since their trusted on their hosts etc)

Thanks for the idea on that m8

As with all my things I do i try and make them fast, when I do get my company going when im well again One of the prime objectives for me is fast loading and running and i think My style of coding and OO appraoch does that, few people have commented on that so thats cool.
My m8 richard and I when we start will offer php and asp, we can do jsp as well but waiting on what goes on with that. Sam does amazing stuff with it but it does look like it may go out. Apache and others are working on their own engines since SUN released the open source of it now with rules to fill for the 3rd party engines. This may save JSP and web based Java. Apache are looking at a php JSP shared engine so both can run, will see where that goes.

Other thing I cant wait to start soon (probably end of september) is the Emotion search system that i piched to amazon who liked the idea.

nice one mate.

PHP and ASP.net good one.

JSP seems a bit "meh" nowerdays, as you say with PHP and ASP.net on the plate its a wee bit too full for JSP to really offer anything beyond what you can already do.

Emotion search engine. Sounds like one of my ideas to be honest mate :P lol, im hoping something from my final year project may be of interest to certain web based companies :D lol, Ive yet to do any work on it yet mind so its just a vague idea, but yea :) lol.

All the best with regards to that too, make sure you keep us updated with regards to it! :)

As for your scaling, what about keeping the containing DIVs the same (i.e. width wise anyway :)), just changing the size of the gifs, rather than use divs that scale with the image. I had a similar issue with regards to java, but in the end it worked out quite well. Set the JButtons to be one size, and the max possible width of a JLabel that held the image to be another size :) Left me with pretty and nice normal sized things :D

there is not one really but its to wide and smaller images look wrong, I need a check on the width and if to much create a smaller scale ratio to apply to it if you look now u will see the current issue

Wasnt my idea would not have thought of it,t he guy at amazon gave me all the info on what to do ^^

They are just the old scaled ones m8, left them on just so the gallery is full rather then adding them all again.

Yes m8, if i make the boxes any bigger smaller images will look swamped, most other galleries cheat by not having backgrounds as it were and rather have a large frame and big boxes miles bigger then the image and not the style of gallery I am after, it is allready changed in terms of what i was after.

Its a shame, if php you could create the thumbnail from a dimension aspect of the image (say the middle 100 by 100 of any image) then it would be ok.
