Hi All

Ive been working on my own World Cup song with the help from friends.  I had an idea to do a departmental charity song, so hopefully Ill get more people involved to redo the vocals which are currently rubbish.  Itll make a big difference on the "Were England" parts.  Lyrics need a little tweaking, but generally I think the song is quite upbeat and cheesy :D

Let me know what you think?

Cheers

Very cheesy indeed,  The "were England" gets a bit repetitive tbh.

Though this is my idea of a "World Cup Song"

No it doesnt, theres nothing wrong with people displaying a bit of national pride, cheering on their team in the biggest sporting event in the world.
Being patriotic/nationalistic, is good - when England won the rugby world cup, the country went nuts, participating in the game and having enthusiam for sport.

Nationalism is bad when its used to fuel the fire of facists and other crocks.

Political correctness gone mad.... again.

England is world famous for its violent "patriotic" fans, I aint  being PC.

I live 5 minutes from our own American football coluseum, so I experience sports fans more than most, and let me tell you what: they suck balls.

Will I watch the cup? Hell yeah, I love football, and Ill be getting it in hi-def, Im just over cheering for any team. Its meaningless.

You would be talking about Football Hooligans.

Yes we seem to have a lot of them, and yes they are violent idiots.

But there is nothing wrong with someone sitting in an armchair cheering on his home team whilst drinking a can of beer with a few mates.

Nor is there in getting dressed up and going to the game, nor is there in going down the pub to watch it.

The entire bunch of british isles do not purely consist of hooligan twats.

Though to bring another comparison into it.

Rugby tickets cost 2 to 3 times more than a football ticket. Yet there are visibly fewer police, Ive yet to hear of a rugby riot in Cardiff whilst there have been 1 or 2 riots relating to the FA Cup once in a while there. Rugby fans are more friendly less likely to go throwing bricks into windows.

Yet we pay more. Why is that?

Max... what do you think of the people who line the streets to support a specific team in the tour de france? hmm... hooligans too? because if your lumping all sports fans in the same boat, then dont forget them... what about bowls players? Golf? Cricket? hmm... yes yes... nationalist violence abound in those games.

yes yes... I remember the time when I saw Mr Dawson at 89 years of age, lamp Mrs Frome (a spritely 77 yr old herself) around the head with a bowls ball for streaking across the green and distracting him when he was making his final bowl....

I dislike blind allegiance to anything, be it religion, political parties, or sports teams. Its a cretinous habit.

Theres a difference between cheering your local boy making a goal and painting your dick blue in support of the Ontario Icicles.

Isnt a blind belief in not believing just as bad?

That makes zero sense. Perhaps youre alluding to the religion aspect of things, not the sporting end. To this Ill say: I know my local team exists, Ive seen them play and at least 99% of the people in the coluseum that day will agree with me that they competed with another team, and that their existance was not fabrication or some charismatic tale that was conconcted for widespread mind control.

It makes perfect sense. No religion in it whatsoever. Just belief in your sporting teams.

(you clearly have a massive fear of the god stuff so well steer clear of that).

But being someone who shows no commitment to supporting his countries effort in sport going around basically naysaying everything the supporters are putting into it. After all its the people buying the merchandise, the tickets, and paying $10 gazillion a pint for a pint of pisswater, that are funding your countries efforts in the sporting world, is just as bad as the hooligans who go around ruining your countries reputation.

Im not saying "if you dont like sport your anti-american" or any of that bollocks, but I think if there are avid fans out there that honestly look up to sporting greats and heros, then there is hope for a country yet.

Then again... we could all do what you seem to want us to do and sit on our arses getting fatter watching soap operas and bitching at the current state of the nation when it comes to obesity. I am sure you have sporting heros of your own, and things in the past that you can remember watching them and remembering "ahh that man was a legend" but you seem to have become infatuated with no longer believing in any sports team.

I should also add that it isnt nationalism that causes the riots over here or around the globe. The most violent riots are local games. Millwall vs Cardiff or Swansea Vs Cardiff are some of the most violent scenes Ive ever seen. In the case of Swansea vs Cardiff they are from the same damn country, and less than 45mins car journey apart.
