Man, I plugged my pc into the dogdy wall socket and it turned itself off. It booted up again but it refused to pick up an IP. Ive tried the onboard LAN and a seperate NIC and both do the same. If I set a static address it refuses to work too.

So Im stuck with wireless, which is fine except its slow as feck, windows cant configure the WPA for some reason and so I have to use the sh*tty software the card came with. Worst of all its randomly locking my system up. Ive factory reset the router but its still giving me sh*t.

Im guessing windows is knackered in some obscure way.
I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

v v odd indeed!!,

Ive not got any decent suggesten at this time of night and the below is likely to break more than it fixes....

in device manager show hidden devices,
therell be a long list of mini port drivers under network adapters

see if any of the ip ones are flagged up.

first thing that came to mind when you said dodgy socket though was this...

and if the image gets nailed for hot linking....

yer, my first thought too. grounded pin maybe? try using a cable thats not involved with the dodgy wall socket.

its wierd - it works fine on my server box, plug it in and it gets an ip straight away  :wtf:
