ssds not big enough. supposed to keep them 40% free. or is it 30%.

I think that's a bit of a myth depending on the controller, etc. GC and TRIM work very effectively now on most SSDs now so you don't have to keep them any more than maybe 5% free I would say. Bigger is better (and faster though).

Corsair 240GB Neutron Series GTX SSD

Better? Probably pushing my upper budget there.

Who the smeg is Dwayne Dibbley ?

Write speed is half that of the GTX though?

zpyder

Is everything else on that list ok? Nothing glaringly under or over powered compared to everything else?

Very true under perfect conditions.
Mixed data can make a big difference in the real world.
I do tend to read up on several reviews to see how they perform , plenty
of tricks to make components appear really good in known tests.
GTX is a really good SSD  , not knocking it , just i,m really wary of the figures
quoted.Bit like the old OCZ SSD's , super fast sequentially but through in some random
writes & then they slowwwweeeeddd.

Your list looks ok I upgraded my gaming comp last month and have the same chip except the K version currently running  happily at 4.4Ghz its only 6 quid more for the K so would go for that.

I wouldn't go for that graphics card tbh you can get a 7850 for a tenner more and it is a far better  card http://www.ebuyer.com/390921-sapphire-hd-7850-oc-2gb-dual-dvi-hdmi-displayport-pci-e-graphics-card-11200-14-20g

Have you thought about a cooler these chips do run hot when underload?

zpyder

Wanted to get an nvidia card as I've had a few issues with ATI cards in the past. The one in my old comp would make a high pitch whining noise whenever anything graphical was happening. Figured it was a bad resistor or something.

Wish I'd seen the K chip but oh well, chances of me overclocking it are remote to non-existant though! Should mean I won't need a different cooler, but will see.

Well, everything is set up and working perfectly.

Annoyingly the only issue I have is that it appears my old 1TB samsung drive is failing SMART on spin up time. Bit annoying as it was a backup drive with windows and office ISOs etc. Just have to transfer things across, 3.5TB is still plenty I guess for now :D (coming from a 500gb laptop for the last 3 years!)
