Title: New Ubuntu
Post by: Shakey on October 18, 2007, 18:35:15 PM
Just so everyone knows, the latest Ubuntu (Gutsy Gibbon) was released today.

One major addition is a display properties-type dialogue box, so things like dual monitors are now possible without faffing with xorg.conf :)

Now I think I will go back to Ubuntu, Ive never got duel monitors working under any distro! (Tho its possibly just dodgy display nix drivers)

bah just upgraded from FF and have lost all windows effects. Beryl is dead and compiz wont work with the s3 card in my old HP omnibook!!!  However my scanner which didnt work in FF now does so I guess Ill make do without my nice wobbly windows or my desktop cube.

Annoying though - and reduces the validity of the 2perfect on old hardware" claim a little...

Beryl is outdated, they re-merged with compiz to make compiz-fusion. Also compiz now comes in the default install, and can be accessed under preferences->appearance if i remember correctly

yeah oh I know that - but compiz ont work with my gfx too so you cant enable the advanced features. It just fails. Fair enough as my lappy is old but its annoying when it worked fine under FF.
