5" OLED touch screen, quad-core CPU,  3G radio, dual-analog joysticks!
The screen itself will run at a native resolution of 960x544 which is capacitive touchscreen and the back of the PSP is capacitive too.

Not to much information on the game medium but they hint to a new one. It sounds like it will be flash cards. Have Sony finally got a good performance to cost ratio sorted for flash?

I've only started using my PSP recently, I had one soon after launch 5 years ago and used it as a SNES for a few months and didn't touch it again - it was very homebewable but the media was just silly expensive. Last month I noticed you can get a 2x MicroSD to Duo converter card which works in it so now have 16GB and a reason to use it again ;)

This new one looks interesting but I don't know if it will take off, with the new 3DS, powerful smartphones, tablets and the new Razer handheld PC things might be heading in a new direction.

Tablets are the main threat, they have had to go hard out.

Ignore the 3D on the 3DS. It is not the best feature and very limited. I seen games that are 3D but use the accelerometer to get you to move around but as soon as you do the 3D effect is lost as you need to be dead on.
It is a nicer, more powerful DS and in that regard should do well.

Thing for me is Sony still are not quite there in terms of online and multiplayer. Microsoft really are the only ones who seem to get it, Nintendo (Japanese in general) just do not get it.

Why Has Microsoft not mad an xbox portable? Maybe they wil look at this and go do something about it?

Exactly man, I'm not buying into the 3DS as I think the battery life is a joke, I can only see this being worse!  :-\

Bought into the hype of the first one and imported 2 weeks after Japanese release. Was extremely disappointed with it so not getting hopes up for this one, especially as they'll no doubt put a stupid price on it as Sony usually do.

They are not talking about the format much. It will not be pure digital download and some form of Flash stick.
Their sony flash format they must have some new spec that is cheap to produce and fast enough to read/write from in the works.

All you need to do is give developers rough specs and the dev kits to develop their games on.

One thing seeing video of it though - It is thin, great but actually looks a little hard to hold. Same with the iphone 4 over the 3GS. LOVE the phone a lot but its harder to hold being thinner. Being thinner is not always just a good thing.

Indeed. Even my 'phat' PSP 1000 gets uncomfortable pretty quick, the un-offical extended battery which adds some thickness to the back edges makes it so much better.

You can now pre-order the vita, I'll admit to doing so earlier! so glad I didn't buy the 3DS tbh :D

Meh don't think I'll bother, might pick one up randomly if just browsing stores and see an offer while I have the spare money but otherwise it's hard to justify buying a portable again after how little I use my PSP, DS, Phone for games.

If you was going to get one it is the winner of the 3DS as it is priced to compete. Sony will be taking a loss on each one sold for a while.

No way I'm getting a 3DS. I do love nintendo and out of all the portables I've had my DS is the most used but I dislike this halfarsed 3D in Cinemas, Games and home.

RAM reduced from 512MB to 256MB

Had a go on the PS Vita today at game. It was surprisingly good, much better than I was expecting. I had a go on Uncharted which used the regular buttons and the touch screen for controls and then a little skateboarding minigame that uses the accelerometer.

I wasn't really interested in the Vita before now as I imported a PSP from Japan 2 weeks after it released and was really let down with the games that came out for it and what you could actually do with it, but I have to say that after playing with one, and only for a very short time, I am considering pre-ordering one.

If I didn't have a PS3 that would be quite tempting just for Wipeout, I know the missus would go ape over LittleBigPlanet on handheld too.

As it stands I'm hardly playing the PS3 much at the moment, no time for it.

Considering I could hardly play with a DS for more than a few minutes (the PSP and game controllers were almost equally bad) I think I will avoid this.

Well, I've had it for about a week now, I've got Hustle Kings, Ridge Racer, Everybodies Golf, Unchartered, Wipeout and a couple of others from PSN.
I'm enjoying it so far, but not played anything that uses the back touch pad yet.
On par with the 3DS for fun so that's good.

Picked up everybodies golf today from Gamestation and got a free 20% voucher for PSN Downloads, Vita Pre-Order pack and some other random sh*te that they can afford to give away seeing as they are in administration.

What I read everyone complains about the frame rates and how bad they are. Even with the patches, Wipeout is not very playable.
Uncharted was not made by Naughty Dog and shows and looks like they were asked "Cram all the features of the console into the game!".

To be honest, the worst I see is the load times.
I've not noticed bad frame rates with any of the games I've been playing.

The only game I've noticed any issues on was the Uncharted demo, which wasn't 'buttery smooth' at times, the Wipeout demo seemed fine but I haven't bought the full game :)
