Hi all
Im just curious if anyone knows off the top of their head if there are time periods or something for the throttling on the above ISPs?

Im on Nildram and I cant figure out the logic on the throttling. USUALLY it follows the normal formula of "off peak = unthrottled". But for instance today torrents were fine from mid day till about 5, and then throttled to 20kbps until 11pm?

And it seems theres a bit of a lag in the off peak times, with the torrents often picking up speed slightly before 6 or after 7...

Go with a better ISP?

Enable encryption, change port and see how the speeds go.

Kinda not the answer I was looking for, though was expecting.

Encrypting and ports change all the time with little or no avail. Having said all this, over the last week it seemed it wasnt throttled or capped at all. Its not so much an ISP bashing thing, as to just finding out whether it happens and if anyone knows the details of when and why etc...

Quixoticish

Pipex used to throttle torrents all the time, sometimes at seemingly random times of the day. You could tell when they were doing so as the speed would take a nosedive from however many hundreds of kb/s down to a measly 20.

Probably because they have some sort of auto throttling system in place when the network demands it.

Nildram ARE throttling me between 9am and 1am the next day (16hrs).  From 3.5Mb/s down to 20Kb/s.

They deny it but the evidence is overwhelming.

im getting 320kB/s on a torrent this morning, was only getting 30kB/s last night tho. On Tiscali.
