Title: No audio device.
Post by: Coded on March 28, 2008, 23:56:53 PM
Built my new media center today.

Installed MC2005 and everything was ok. I have just noticed however, that there is no sound. when i look in sounds and audio devices it says "No Audio Device", which is strange as it has on-board sound and also im sure ive connected the sound on the case itself into the mobo.

HAve installed all the drivers from the mobo cd.

Any thoughts are apprecitaed.

Yeah.

However i have just found out what it was. Was looking at the device manager and noticed a PCI-e with a yellow questions mark, so while i was thinking what could be wrong i thought id try to update that driver. Once that was done...magic, a "HD Realtek audio" appeared.

Find it a bit strange as its on-board sound, but hey ho!

Will probably be the HD Audio bridge.  had the same issue with my lappy when i ripped Vista off it.

Happens all the time, its where a driver hasnt been properly installed. Initially the OS puts it up with a question mark but if it doesnt do things properly then it stays like that, stuck. In XP I just uninstall the thing and either wait for it to be recognized or restart windoze.
