360 Dying Again :(
on: January 18, 2007, 15:48:13 PM
Well I think my 360 is on its way out again :(

I just fired it up for a quick round of TW07 and first up it was making this awful grinding noise. I rebooted and it sounded ok again...
After a couple of holes in TW07 the picture started jumping around the screen and any colour with blue in it looked weird.
This is pretty much exactley what happened just before it died (3 Segments on the RoL) last time :(

Guess Ill be diging out my warranty document and making sure its valid !

:(

Number 2 is on its way out by the looks of it :(

Had Rainbow 6 completely lock up 3 times over the weekend and then it was all topped off with a 30min session of 3 lights on the RoL :(

Arhghhhghghgh.

I am tempted.

Ive not had a receipt of my extended warranty being accepted yet. So if it does die and I cannot RMA it, I will not only be giving it the soldering iron treatment ;) ;)

...Then I might treat myself to a HDMI upgrade too :)

Extended warranty does take a while to come through.  My near launch is still working fine :-/  Some people just have no luck when it comes to the 360.

Is it much of a surprise that a refurbished replacement has failed?  Why is it refurbished to begin with?  Its probably a warranty return that has been repaired.

Are there any precautions (I use the 360 on its side) you can take to avoid the red lights doom :P ?
Ive had mine since March 2006, and Ive (touch wood) not had any problems yet (I think TES: Oblivion crashes for pretty much everyone after a while). :)

Well dell do that with the LCDs mine had a white blodge on ig after a while and ghosting got really bad for some reason, rang up next day I had someone pick my one up and drop off another which cleary must be a referb in the box it was but it is a slightly updated version (different menu system) and is 100% fine - no problems at all and in pristine condition. I was dead happy

Cheers Nexus, thats quite interesting...I wonder whether that is because of the number of complaints/faults they are still having or if it is because they are getting very few failure now !?

*touch wood* Ive not a had problem the last couple of times Ive fired it up...but then this is how it went down with the first 360 I had :s

My 360 has been vertical since I got it.  I think its a myth that having it horizontal preserves it.  If its going to fail it will either way.

yeap, Ive always had my 360s horizontal and theyve all ended up failing :s

I stuck a post on the xbox forums to see if anyone else was having issues with RainbowSix Vegas, as I always seem to have problems when playing that...It looks like I am not the only one !
