Silly question, but I cant think of a solution off the top of my head.

Basically Id like a way to enable and disable my microphone easily, without having to open Volume Control.

Using WinXP, fully updated.

Thanks in advance.

Cypher

Unplug it.

There is no easier way than volume control.

Eggtastico

get one with an on/off switch

Mark

function key mapped to the action or script to do the action?

White Giant

Using the inline on/off switch causes the headset to produce some odd sounds for some reason.

A simple double click would be nice for this task, or something I can stick on quick launch.  :)

you need to run a script that mutes microphone.

If you can code this is a good place to start.  Cant see any obvious scripts that do it but it should be easy to write one.  Id probably use directX to do it...

Ill have a dig around and see if I can find one.  A perl script might be better.

Its not very elegant but you could get a program like automater (on MAC) that records and repeats actions.
