Anyone else think Norton Internet Security is overpriced, bloated popup riddled crap? TBH the only decent package that Symantec make is Ghost.

Serious

Wouldnt touch it with a barge pole even if its a freebie ;)

Have had far less problem with AVG free edition and ZoneAlarm.

*shudder*

utterly, utterly useless, so useless in fact that i often disabled it on PCs i used, hence defeating the purpose of having such software on to start off with...

Yup the same here. Bloated sh*te that crashes at the first mention of a virus.

brummie

im with the others.

total crap that should have died out by now.

kwindu

im probably in the minority here but i think Nortons alright
ive had no problems with it at all

Oh good, I thought I was in a minority.

I admit to advising any of my customers to remove it and have it replaced with something good/free. It frequently misses viruses that other scanners catch, spam filter is average and there is about nothing it does well. People have a go at M$ for writing rubbish software, when really its the tossers who put stuff on top that are to blame.

Ghost is an excellent program but it was bought...

Norphy

In all fairness, Symantec branded stuff (ie their Enterprise line) is generally quite good. Its just that their home user stuff (Anything with Peter Nortons face on it) is utter crap.

That said, that rule seems to apply to a lot of software companies, McAfee included.

Think that does let MS off the hook a bit easily there - programming for Windows requires its own special kind of crack tbh, specially apps that you expect to run transparently while everything else is going on.
