Has anyone got this yet? I have been playing it on the Xbox360 and my initial impressions (after 5 hours gametime) is that this game is big and is going to take a while to finish. This is quite possibly the best looking game currently on the 360. I am finding it difficult, which is a good thing. You dont want to play through a game in 10 minutes... :) Imps are s*** as f*** :(
The gameplay itself is not what I was expecting, I have not played Morrowind but I would expect that to be similar to this. The game has been getting excellent reviews across the board, on gaming site such as Gamespot and IGN (though I normally take reviews on these with a pinch of salt) and with gamers alike.
There have been some reports of long load times after extended periods of play. This is apparently an issue with the cache the game generates to increase game performance. This can be cured by holding down the A key on boot up of the game until you see the Bethesda Softworks logo. This clears the HD cache the game creates.
Also, Woolworths have apparently made a price error and the Xbox360 version, although marked up at Ã,£49.99 actually goes through at Ã,£32.99 which is the price of the PC version... Get it while you can.
Here are some screenshots:

In store only?
I would assume so.
Ive had it on 360 since last Wednesday and have racked up about 15 hours already (maybe more). It is a very good game, so good I havent even done any of the main story after getting out of the jail at the beginning.
Thats all I have done... I am in Oblivion and I am over laden with kit. I didnt know where to take it to get rid... :(
Where did you head to when you got out of the jail? I went straight to the head of the order to give the amulet to.
I went to him too and am now exploring the world.
To sell stuff just head to a town and find an inn or shop and you can sell stuff to the people in there. Its not that obvious as when you talk to them it has things you can ask them about, but at the bottom are some icons. Highlight them and find the one that says barter. You can now buy or sell stuff.
If you have any stolen goods in your inventory, they will not been shown when you sell goods normally. You have to find a fence who will take stolen goods from you.
Got my collectors edition (Xbox 360 version) & and a core console + hard disk on friday. Havent stopped playing since. :)
Playing through the Dark Brotherhood quests at the moment (Im a vampire too) , Ive heard you get an evil horse at the end.
I think they can stop making video games now...this is perfection.
The Dark Brotherhood have contacted me, but I have yet to do any quests for them. Im busy doing Thieves Guild quests and other stuff.
What a view. (http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/8567/panorama34ie.jpg) :D
playing it on pc atm, am amazed by this game, well more amazed my pc can run it so well
Hear me baby, hold together
but wow, am an archer atm, closed the first gate at kvatch... couldnt believe how scary the oblivion realm is... the ai is superb, though it is annoying not being able to carry much makes it more reaslistic though.
Can be hard to get the game going though, once you have a couple of quests under your belt, they all start coming out of the woodwork asking for help
definately a goty contender i think
The only game ive been able to get into like this really is Jade Empire, which tbh I thought was jaw droppingly good, you guys think this is really really THAT good then?
This is not just THAT good, its also...um...well...yeah its THAT good :D
Its just so good in so many ways and there is so much to do and so much stuff to find.
I started another character as a battlemage, mages seem to have alot more to do, at the start at least well visible anyway more spells to buy, but i like being an archer though, alot more skills in firing an arrow than being a mage, got to take into account the dip and such, and keeping your supply of arrows up.
Collecting the arrows you fire is good also, means as an archer you arent always forking out loads buying the damn things.
I want to be playing it now, but i am home for the weekend..
I have been naughty. After joining the guilds in the first town I promptly collected all the items worth anything and sold it back to the guild :D I now have 4000 Gold for the trouble :D
And yes, it really is that good. I would say its the best game on the Xbox360 at the moment. I have got 11+ hours game time so far and I am have not progressed far into the story line at all. If you just do the story line it apparently takes you about 24 hours game time.
Oh, and a tip. Do the mission on the ship to recover the crystal ball in the first town. The reward is a meaty magical sword. Also the swords the spirits drop are also pretty good.

lmao.... first town.... no such thing in that game, i am guessing you are talking about the haunted ship in the harbour of anvil.
unfortunately i dont have much that can attack spirits as an archer... take that... oh.... it went right through... damn
Yes Anvil. Its the first town you get to be in, rather than just residing in the dungeons... :)
Do you not have fireball? Have you any magic at all. The AI is a bit poo on the ghosts because they cant get through the doors in the upstairs cabin.

dont quite get what you mean about get to be in, soon as i left the dungeons i went into the city and had a look around, and yes i do have fireball but it takes about 20-30 of them to kill one and i can fire about 4 or 5 before i run out of magicka and my magicka takes forever to recharge
I loved Morrowind TES (PC) but I did find it pretty samey towards the end.
Damn, I nearly bought this today and wish I had now... :( Theyve certainly improved the graphics. (They were gorgeous back then...)
Sweenster, grab some silver arrows. Silver weapons can hurt ghosts apparently.

What is your spec? I know my graphics card doesnt have a chance in hell, but Im wondering how much else I will need to update in order to attempt to play Oblivion.
As I said the ghosts couldnt go through the doors in the upstairs cabin so the fact you can only fire 5 before running out of magicka does not pose a problem. You just need a little patience. :)
I didnt realise you could go back into the city :(

runs fine at 1280 with medium graphics settings
I grabbed this yesterday as the tesco I was in had just started stocking 360 games (they had ONE of each!?) anyway I grabbed it at Ã,£39.97
Just need my 360 back from microshaft now...
Oh and a HDD maybe, does this game use the HDD a lot if you have one does anyone know?
If you have the HD then it uses it as a cache so it can be faster loading between areas. Its not essential.
For those playing the 360 version, Major Nelson just posted this:
QuoteDo you have a horse in ?Oblivion?? (The answer is yes if you completed the first main quest) If so, you can now download a horse armor pack and get your ride looking sharp. This will cost you 200 points.
^Yup. Pimp your ride!
Wonder if you can lower the horse! Ayeeee on the fly adjustable horse shoes :D

Just use a waraxe on its legs, that should customise it enough ;)
Might not go very fast afterwards though running around on bloody stumps...
Heh so im guessing the RSPCA have an open file on you Serious?
Wow, 200 points for something that really should have been in the game to begin with. I wonder if they will charge points for any patches they release...
/cynical :)
Hell, Id pay 600 points if this mod came up on XLA (http://www.tessource.net/files/file.php?id=2330) (Xbox Live Arcade).
And I love this Star Wars inspired one too.... (http://www.tessource.net/files/image.php?id=403) *sigh...next PC upgrade...next PC upgrade...* :|
Ive started playing it on the 360. Its a great game but ive notice a few bugs already.
I think this games going to steal my weekends for a while.
Found out you can also buy the horse armour pack for the pc version here: https://obliviondownloads.com/StoreCatalog_ProductList.aspx?SubCategoryId=1
Interesting thing is they have 2 more additions listed on there as coming soon, so maybe they will be available on the Live Marketplace soon too.
Anyones game get a bit jerky when going through scenery quick etc? also had mine moan about the disc needing to be cleaned twice so far :?
Let me tell you, the disc still looks fresh out the pack.
I think its a case of the 360 overheating and causing problems :( I tend to clear the cache when booting up the game each time if I know I will be playing it for a few hours. I would have thought with the HD your disc wont be used as extensively causing the drive to overheat (possibly).

Cheers will give that a go.
Edit: Heh it worked - well sort of enough for me to want to get a new graphics card asap to play it properly.
