Wii world - Channels on the net, basically a virtual world, you make a little character of yourself (A mii) And interact (mingle)
Tansfer wii to a remote (acts like a memory storage device
With your mii you can then import it into some games that have the feature - tennis, wario and more.

So It looks like the Wii remote is You! You go around a friends and you take your remote and it will have your stats, your profile and your skills and settings - Bloody clever

i heard a really rubbish rumour before:

Wii will be release in the UK Feb 07. However the news source was: Argos (yes the catalogue company). I doubt its true, however if the uk release is any longer than a week after US, im importing.

I expect that Ã,£130 is just a direct conversion from $ and the actual price will need VAT added on top.

I have seen Ã,£170 suggested by one of the Nintendo people as a European price.

IT was march from then the febuary, Either way EU wont be till next year, US first then December Japan so not till new year for EU :/

I should think with the standard UK price Hike- Ã,£150 for wii basic with no bundled game.
1st part games of Ã,£40-45 and some 3rd party at Ã,£50
controler Ã,£29.99 and nun-chuck at Ã,£19.99 or Ã,£14.99

We will find out today anyway

But at least Nintendo will admit and say that they are making them, and it takes time and they ship when they have enough to cover the area in a decent amount and the numbers they were saying looked very good.

PS3 will be hardly around and will ship as they are made and you will get what you can in your area and lucky to get one. I should expect it to be very ropey sales for a few months just down to the lack of availible machines let alone the cost.

Yes, the Core.  I know you have to buy a memory card/HD but still for what you get (alledgedly little more powerful than an Xbox1 which can be had for Ã,£80 at the most) it seems like an expensive deal for us.  Granted our prices include VAT and US quoted prices dont.

Ouch, Rip off britain strikes again, Ã,£150 would have been fine, but that tips it to the silly,as you say deaths a core is Ã,£200 now, hmm will put some people off, No dvd playback now as well, once controler not all great :/

Its seriously looking like the Wii is going to be the first console I buy within 2 years of its release date.  Its just too frickin clever for its own good.

Yes but the point is for many people having 20 boxes around their Tv is something they dont find Ideal and why the Apple ITV could be a real winner if dont right.

itd only work out an extra tenner or something if you imported it (even if they did screw you for import duty the amount you save [esp if you buy games] would be considerable).

Im a big fan of import gaming pretty much all my ds stuff was import, but ive always used usb plugs. A friend of mine whos also a huge import gamer tells me that the power converter for the america-uk PSU is quite touchy, and after a while of charging his DS it crackles and goes all weird, for his DS this aint too bad as its just a charger thats left on for an hour most, but the Wii will be left powered 24/7 so yeah, i dunno whether to import or not

Very clever move IMO, DVD functionality (much like the ps3 Blue-Ray Functionality) Would push the price up even more.

Id say its got enough features to make it cool, and not enough people would have used it as a dvd player to justify the move IMO.

OK, you need to buy a memory card (Ã,£18, and thats only 64meg, Wii has 512), the wifi adapter (Ã,£55) and the controller isnt wireless (Ã,£30 if you want that). Plus you need a game which is realistically Ã,£30 minimum if you pick one up on offer in Game at the minute.

So thats actually Ã,£303, or Ã,£333 if you want a wireless controller, just to give it almost the same basic funtionality as the Wii.

Not a flame (I love my 360) but you need to look at the extra stuff Wii has included (HD Graphics notwithstanding).

Things are dam nice In Hd it so makes a game feel even more emersive, get some nice sound in 5.1 and you cant beat it tbh, its dam sweet. Graphics dont make a game but if your playing a good game and it looks the dogs with HD it is sooo much more.

Wifi is an addon for the wii I believe.  Wired controller is no biggie, super long cables on the controllers, no worries with batteries running out  (like on my car keyfob today, GRRRR!).

There are plenty of free games to download on Live, having said that you would need some way to save them.

Does the Wii still have memory card reader or is it just SD reader?

Well, I pre-ordered my Wii from play.com at 15:15 so hopefully I got in there early.  My mates are surprised I have gone for one.  It will be something to take round to my mates with his young kids and for playing at drinking sessions at my other mates.

Add another Ã,£50-Ã,£60 for wireless adapter, for core 360.

Apparently its not region free, but there is some confusion whether its region locked or not.

WiFi is included and the WiiConnect 24 is free. Opera will be free till June 2007.

Its like the DS at the start, everyone was thinking Nintendo went crazy because of the dual screens and touchscreen capability. There wasnt any worthwhile games to get and no one wanted to buy a DS. Then on the second year the DS games or non-games were excellent and most of the public bought a DS because of it.(Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan! FTW!!)
Im hoping this will happen to the Wii and any other console like PS3.

Anyone know what the chances are that Ill actually see a Wii within a week of release?  Ive no idea when play.com started taking pre-orders, and Ive no idea what the situation is gonna be like with stock etc.

Will I be able to flog my pre-order on ebay during release week for a profit?

Nintendo reckon there will be no shortage of wiis, a million being shipped to Europe, I dunno, im still glad I got an early preorder.

NoA Say Wii is region free, but NoE explicitly said NoA was wrong, and it will be region locked (strange them arguing like that?)

Either way im not importing, just in case.

They started taking pre-orders before 15:10 which is when I ordered mine.  I dont know how long before that.  The price was only announced at about 1:30pm

Console
ââ,¬Â¢ 512MB onboard flash storage.
ââ,¬Â¢ 2 USB ports (storage expansion, ethernet adapter).
ââ,¬Â¢ 802.11b/g wireless built in.
ââ,¬Â¢ SD Card expansion slots.
ââ,¬Â¢ Communicates with up to 4 controllers over Bluetooth.
ââ,¬Â¢ Video out available in composite, s-video, or component.
ââ,¬Â¢ Included OS is "upgradable".

And technically it is just a souped up Gamecube.

Classic Controller: Ã,£12.99
Wii RC: Ã,£24.99

Ã,£51 for the complete set, or Ã,£38 for the rc+nc.

Nunchuck: Ã,£12.99
You need to get at the same time, your silly if you dont as if you need to play fps and other games you need one.

So thats Ã,£38

How many multiplayer games are going to need the nunchuck? Depends on what games you like and how many friends you have, but Im planning on two "full" sets plus two additional Wiimotes. For the tech in the controller it seems a perfectly sensible price to me, and the classic controller is pretty well priced to my mind.

Zelda has multiplayer, metroid, Any other FPS, there seems to be a lot of Non fps as well that need it, But I am getting to see what the plan is from nintendo, you got to have your classic controlers around flor classic games, your wii remote, nun chucks.....
You will end up with a lot lying around.
All very well priced but you will be buying a lot of them.

One thing though - we have the wii controller at a decent price and it has a mic, vibration and a giro. The PS3 will have all but vibration and just spring loaded buttons and an interface button, whats the betting it will be Ã,£39.99 and everyone will ask why they have to cost more.

Play.com only takes payment when your order is processed, ie they have stock and are ready to ship.

Yay, preordered now in local Game. Sadly was in work today, so I am only fifth in the preorder queue. Still, at least Im sure of getting one, seems a lot of places started selling preorders before they knew their allocation.

Got a call from my branch too so I popped in at lunch, tbh I dont think theres going to be the same farce produced by the 360 so im pretty confident ill get one, despite not being mega super hyper front of que.

Gameplay.com just opened their preorder, chance to jump up the queue.  Gameplay got me my Xbox360 so I would recommend them.
